Senior Year Notes
Senior Project
This Thursday was the deadline for the Research Checkpoint. Seniors should have shared with their mentor a minimum of 10 pages of notes from a minimum of 10 sources, documented in an MLA-formatted Works Cited Page. Please check in with your senior and see how they fared on this checkpoint!
Seniors who have passed this checkpoint prior to March 27 will have an off-site senior project day. This will provide them the opportunity to meet with an outside expert, travel to a library that has unique resources, begin working on an applied piece, or do any other work that is appropriate for their project. Seniors who have NOT passed this checkpoint will be required to come to school on Wednesday, March 27th, to work on their project. Teachers will be available for help and encouragement. This will be a good opportunity for seniors who are struggling with their projects to get the assistance they need to move forward with their work.
The next checkpoint is the completion of the applied piece, and will take place on Thursday, April 18.

Gavin Sturges
What is your role at Souhegan?
English teacher
How long have you been with Souhegan?
25 years
What do you love about your job?
I most enjoy the daily banter and having a laugh with my students and the staff. Working at Souhegan keeps me grounded and realistic, engaged with culture and the next generation, and helps me remain positive and hopeful.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love football. If I'm not watching football live or on TV, I'm playing it or reading about it. However, as a Brighton and Hove Albion FC fan since 1978, there has been more pain than joy, and so I celebrate every win as if it's the last :). I love music, and if I'm not watching live music, I'm playing music or reading about music. (My first love is Punk, but I do also enjoy indie rock and some alt-folk/alt-country!)
If you were given one wish what would it be?
I wish I could go back to May 26th, 1983 in the 119th minute when Michael Robinson plays the ball across the penalty area to Gordon Smith. In my wish Smith would score and Brighton would beat Manchester United 3-2 to win the FA Cup Final!
Do you have a favorite quote or mantra?
“After many years in which the world has afforded me many experiences, what I know most surely in the long run about morality and obligations, I owe to football.” (Albert Camus, 1957)
