Electronic Device Policy at PHES
As you know, Providence Hall Charter has an acceptable use policy for electronic devices, generally. Here at the Elementary school we have maintained a more strict standard, as few students in K-5 have cell phones. We recognize, however that a growing number of students have electronic communication devices (why did typing that sentence make me feel like an old man) including "Gabb" watches. We'd like to reiterate our expectation that students should not be using personal electronic devices to communicate during school time.
Should you ever have a need to communicate with your student you will please call the school at 801-727-8260. In like manner, your child can get a pass from the teacher to call home from the office if necessary. The purpose of this policy is to help limit the number of distractions during school hours.
Thank you for understanding and for helping our kids focus and grow.
Carpool Update 🚗
Carpool on the first day of school on Wednesday was pretty typical, if not a little faster than last year. As expected, we saw the flow of traffic move more quickly the next couple days. We will continue to see that trend as staff, students, and parents get more familiar with the process and build some muscle memory. Of course, the exception to that is this Wednesday when we add our Kinder families into the carpool lane, but soon thereafter we should see things level out. Thank you for your patience, and for obeying traffic laws and being kind to other drivers.
Please continue to have your students' name and grade level displayed as you drive up. It will make the process faster and smoother.
Thank you for not parking in the staff lot if you are picking up or dropping off students, the exception being the first day of kinder when some of you may need to walk your students in for the first time.
As the East bank of parking spots is shared by our teachers and construction crew, please avoid parking in those spots for any reason.
Thanks!

Reading is the most important skill you can teach a child. Of all the skills children learn, it is the
one you can influence the most.
We invite you to visit our Scholastic Book Fair® and experience a celebration of reading that
provides families the opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging kids to
read every day so they can lead better lives.
Reading is vital to every child’s success, and raising kids as readers means getting involved
while they’re young. Now is the time. Since there will never be a substitute for a parent’s direct
involvement in his/her child’s education, please make plans to visit our Book Fair. Hope to see
you there!
Book Fair Dates: September 12th-15th
