FBA President's AGM Message
September 2018
AGM 2018 President's Report
Greetings FBAVI Members & Friends
I began as FBA President in June of this year when Oliver Sommer, our President at the time moved to Vancouver. Special thanks to Oliver for his commitment and dynamic leadership.
FBAVI has now been in existence for two years and it has been a very successful time. We’ve recovered our transition costs, created more programming, experienced membership growth and increased FBA Team involvement. We’ve remained true to our mission: To promote the sustainability and growth of Vancouver Island business families by providing education and support through community and shared experience.
The energy, inspiration and inclusivity of FBA make it a community treasure.
We work together in so many ways. Members come forward to be our event and workshop presenters. They help to enhance our programming through ongoing Sponsorship Campaign success. They involve others by sharing their experiences. And your Board of Directors focuses on excellence in bringing it all together. Thanks everyone, for your energy, time, talent and generosity!
The Family Business Excellence (FBE) Awards is an annual highlight. In February of this year, over 120 people were present to recognize DriveWise BC and Titan Boats as the award recipients with Daisey Klaibert receiving our first Young Entrepreneur Award. Nominations are now open for our 2019 awards and I encourage you to nominate deserving candidates.
Your voice is important to us by spreading the word about the many ways in which FBA makes a difference in the lives of its members. Your experience is central in highlighting FBA as the place to be for family business.
Expand our reach:
1. Invite new family businesses to our events
2. Advertise our events through social media
3. Include our logo in your email signature
4. Introduce potential members to our Executive Director
Make FBA your organization – help your board to add value to our energetic and innovative program by providing input. I invite your ideas, questions or concerns about any aspects of our program.
I look forward to this new season with you as we carry out our vision to support each other, connect, share ideas and learn from each other’s unique experiences.
