This cold and flu season has been a very challenging one! One way to help prevent and decrease the spread of germs is by washing one’s hands. HANDWASHING is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to other, according to the CDC. Here are some important tips to remember given by the CDC:
When should you wash your hands??
*Before, during, and after preparing foods
*Before eating food
*Before and after caring for someone who is sick
*Before and after treating a cut or wound
*After using the restroom/ toilet
*After changing diapers or cleaning up after a child who has used the restroom/ toilet
*After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
*After touching an animal, animal feed, or waste
How should you wash your hands?
-Wet your hands with clean, running water, turn off the tap, and apply soap
-Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Be sure to lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your fingernails
-Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds.
-Rinse your hands well under clean, running water
-Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry
