Notes from Principal Dra. Cardenas
Some thoughts for the starting school year
From Mrs. Dietlin-Anderson, Music Teacher:
The month of March is called March's Reading Month. March’s reading month is a celebration that encourages reading at all ages! Reading is a key feature of learning new words, new ideas and imagination! Down by the music room you will see posters displaying musical books. This month we will be listening to songs that have become books. The month of March is called March's Reading Month. March’s reading month is a celebration that encourages reading at all ages! From Principal, Dra. Cárdenas
Esteemed RHE Community,
We wrapped up the week with dress up days and Spring Benchmarks for 3rd and 4th graders behind us. 3rd and 4th grade teachers have analyzed the data and they came up with an instructional plan that will target our students' most current level of understanding. We have four weeks to clarify misconceptions and get the most out of instructional time before the STAAR test. After STAAR, teachers will continue to work on skills that students need for the upcoming grade level. In PK - Kinder, students are becoming more proficient with their beginning reading skills, including the number of sight words they know. In 1st-2nd grade, students are transitioning into more independent reading with fluency passages and reading passages for fluency and comprehension. It is without a doubt that every day counts!
During Spring Break, I hope everyone has a relaxing and rewarding time together with loved ones. May everyone have some time outside in the sun and fresh air; some time inside cozied up with family; and above all many smiles and laughter that rejuvenate the spirit!
See you all on Monday, March 18th!
At Your Service,
Dra. Betty A. Cárdenas
