Notes from Principal Dra. Cardenas
Some thoughts for the starting school year
Every morning, announcements begin with the Song of the Week chosen by our Music Teacher, Mrs. Dietlin-Anderson. Each day, different facts about the singer are shared before beginning the pledges. Listen to the song with your child and ask him/her what they remember about the singer. If they don't remember, give them the task to remember one fact they hear the following day. Having daily conversations with your child about their school day can help nurture trust and social-emotional skills. In February, in observance of Black History Month, every week will highlight a Black musician.
From Principal, Dra. Cárdenas
Esteemed RHE Community,
This upcoming week we celebrate Literacy with Dr. Seuss themed days. We are eager to see staff and student participation throughout the week. On Friday, all classes will close with a class celebration before leaving for the week of Spring Break.
This week continues to be a big week for our 3rd & 4th graders who will take their Mathematics Spring Benchmark. These tests give our students an opportunity to feel what the STAAR test will be like. Students have this opportunity to practice the strategies they have been taught to solve the questions in a full-length assessment. Teachers will use the data to develop an instructional plan that most closely addresses the students' needs. Our teachers will be in close communication with our parents on their child's progress. Parents, do not hesitate to reach out as needed. We are here with your child's best interest in mind.
I hope everyone has a marvelous week!
At Your Service,
Dra. Betty A. Cárdenas
