Elements of Music
- What do you hear?

- Who can tell us?
The Element
- Identify the musical element that appeals to you the most by playing clips of the songs you have composed this year and having your peer audience respond to the songs by stating which element stands out.
- Think about why you like this element and where have you heard it before.
- Choose a song from your culture or childhood which prominently uses this element.
- Complete this exit slip by Tues. Jan. 9.
The Artist
- Research the life of the artist who wrote and/or recorded that cultural/childhood song. You will need to connect research of the artist’s life to how and why the element is used.
- How does the song make the audience feel? What does the song ask its listeners to do?
- What role does this song play in the community or culture?
- Start with the Encyclopedia Britannica and Explora databases. Access through your BYOD page. If you are researching a more contemporary artist the Pop Culture Collection database may be a good place to start. Here's a Research & Reflection Template to get you started. Notes should be completed by Fri. Jan 12. (10s five resources minimum; 11s seven resources minimum)
