Sanborn Staff Showcase
Meet Miss. Hackl !
Position: Adapted Music
Years at Sanborn: 4 years
I was inspired by the way that music has an impact on everyone, regardless of ability. I wanted to work in a school to share my love of music with others and inspire them to be successful and growing musicians.
What inspires you?
Seeing the students achieve success- their smiles say it all!
What is your favorite quote?
People may not remember what you said or did, but they will remember how you made them feel.
Meet Ms. Carney!
Position: Music Teacher
Years at Sanborn: 24 years
At Millikin University, I was a vocal performance major and studied dance. Halfway through my studies, I realized I enjoyed coaching and teaching others in the arts after an opportunity to serve in the Decatur public schools. It was a wonderful fourth grade teacher's encouragement, her class and their cards to me that inspired me to change my major to music education. The joy I experienced in that fourth grade classroom changed everything. It was there I knew I wanted to be a teacher.
What inspires you?
My faith, family, friends, music, our school community and the wonder and blessing of each day bring me inspiration....
What is your favorite quote?
"Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly"
Meet Mrs. Esbrook
Position: 6th Grade Teacher
Years at Sanborn: 16
I genuinely enjoy working with young people, helping them learn, and hoping to make a difference.
What inspires you?
Looking out at all my students and imagining their potential, and seeing the future.
What is your favorite quote?
"Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Albert Einstein
Meet Mrs Alonso!
Position: Bilingual Kindergarten
Years at Sanborn: 2 years
Learning and growing has always been a passion of mine. Education has given me a platform. It has allowed me to show others just like myself that regardless of your economic status, race, ethnicity, cultural background you can make a change.
What inspires you?
The idea that I can help develop lifelong skills in my students is what drives me to be the best teacher I can.
What is your favorite quote?
"Find people who will make you better." - Michelle Obama
