Post from the Principal...
Dear Patriot Families,
We are thrilled to begin the school year! This will be a year to remember! We were thrilled to meet so many of you at our Device Distribution and Meet and Greet! We know there are still some of you who were unable to attend our our Meet and Greet who still need devices. Please feel free to call our main office and make arrangements to pick up materials for your child specific to their schedule.
Thank you to all of you for your participation with us through Day One of our Remote Learning. This is a learning experience for all of us and know that we will all get better every day! We understand that this week is a learning week for your child and for you and please know the same is true for us. Thank you for working with us and thank you for your flexibility! If your child has any technical issues or has questions regarding assignments, etc. please know we will be patient with you all and we would ask that you just email or call us to let you know how we can help you.
Our teachers were very encouraged by so many of you who reached out to them to introduce yourselves and we appreciate the support you have been to US! This is a team effort and we want you to know we thank YOU.
We are in need of acquiring updated information for every child at Liberty Bell. If your contact information has changed at any point in the last year, please call our main office so that we can update your contact information. This will be imperative so that we can ensure that you are receiving all information pertinent to your child. (423) 232-2192

Johnson City Schools releases Parent Introduction to Remote Learning
Johnson City Schools is pleased to release a self-paced course for parents called “Parent Introduction to Remote Learning”. This course is required for all parents who registered for full remote learning for either nine or 18 weeks. This course is also highly recommended for all parents as Johnson City Schools is beginning the school year with all students learning in a remote environment.
“We hope that the Parent Introduction to Remote Learning will be a helpful tool for our families as we begin the school year with Remote Learning,” Johnson City Schools Superintendent Steve Barnett said. “Our district administration and staff have worked tirelessly to provide our families with support, and we believe these resources will answer many questions about the different digital platforms our students will use.”
The course includes an overview of the JCS Remote Learning Handbook for Parents and Students as well as detailed information about the learning platforms used by the district to facilitate remote learning. During the course, parents of Canvas users will be provided the steps to sign up as a “Parent Observer” so that parents can actively track assignments, due dates, and communications to and from teachers. Additionally, several helpful videos will assist parents with technology support at home, understanding how to navigate the remote learning environment, and see how the various platforms work in real-time. Information about internet safety and appropriate online class behavior will be covered in a digital citizenship section.
“While JCS remote learning teachers will be providing their own customized orientations, we believe this course will serve as a valuable reference tool for parents,” Johnson City Schools Supervisor of Secondary and Instructional Technology David Timbs said. “The course can be accessed multiple times for access to help documents and videos.”
At the conclusion of the first time through the course, parents will be prompted to complete a short form signifying completion of the class and review of the information. This documentation will help the school know that parents understand the expectations and supports available in the remote learning environment.
The first line of assistance will, of course, be the classroom teacher but this course provides 24/7 support for parents.
