Newton's Law of Motion
1st,2nd,3rd Law
Newton's First Law
Newtons first law states, an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force
Example: The ball is staying at rest and will remain at rest until something or someone uses force to move the ball. The ball will also keep rolling if it were to be moved unless something or someone uses force to stop it
Newton's First Law Examples
Newton's Second Law
Force= Mass x Acceleration
If more force is applied than the acceleration increases, if more mass is applied the acceleration decreases
The acceleration of an object is dependent on two variables: net force and acceleration
Example: The dog is using force to pull and accelerate the mass of the rock
Newton's 2nd Law
Newton's Third Law
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two objects. The size of the forces on the first object equals the size of the force on the second object.
Example: The rider jumps off the skateboard, the jumping is called an action,the skateboard responds to that action by traveling in the opposite direction which is called the reaction.
