UNION OF NATIONAL EMPLOYEES SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES
At the Union of National Employees, we believe that no one should be stripped of the chance to reach their full potential because of the increasingly unaffordable cost of post-secondary education. That’s why our members are proud to offer several scholarships to promising students.
Each year, we award a $1,000 scholarship to a student entering their first year of college, university or vocational training. It’s our sincere hope that this scholarship will make a meaningful difference in a young person’s educational journey.
SELECTION CRITERIA
This scholarship is open to students entering full-time or part-time study at a post-secondary institution. Each applicant must submit a 1200 to 1500-word essay detailing how the union movement has helped to build the social values that Canadians hold dear.
Essays will be evaluated using the following criteria: passion, content and knowledge of subject matter. The essay and the application form must be received by the Union of National Employees before March 31.
If more than one student stands out, the Union of National Employees may choose to divide the scholarship among students of equal merit. Cheques will be issued only after we have received proof of registration.

SCHOLAR TREE
The site was created with the intent to help reduce student debt, which many students have to take on for post-secondary education. ScholarTree.ca streamlines the scholarship process for students; all they have to do is create a simple profile and based on the information they provide (including school, field of interest, volunteer experience etc.) we will match them to all of the scholarships that they qualify for.
There are still many scholarships available to students. We have recently added a way for students to track applications that they have started and a summary of the scholarship they have already completed the applications.
ScholarTree is 100% free to students!
