Mahanay Elementary School won first place in the Be Fit Program sponsored by the Houston Rockets and by Children's Memorial Hermann.
Mahanay Elementary School helped kick off the Be Fit Program because the school finished first place in last season's contest. As first place winners, Mahanay also received prizes and sports equipment. Mahanay beat out other Houston area elementary schools for this top spot.
The program encourages and rewards students for healthy nutrition and physical activities.The Be Fit Program also promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for students and their families.

Alief ISD staff members were selected to prestigious local and state-level athletic positions.
Hastings High School Head Football Coach David Martel has been selected to be a member of the Houston Touchdown Club Player of the Year Selection Committee.
Taylor High School Head Football Coach Brian Randle is on the Board of Directors for the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association.
Alief ISD Athletics Director Scott Moehlig has been selected to be the representative for the Membership Committee for Region 5 of the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association.
Alief ISD Health Services staff received exclusive visit from the National Association of School Nurses.
Alief ISD graduate featured by UT-Health San Antonio's Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
Acosta graduated from Hastings in 2011 and previously attended Martin, Owens and Killough.
