Blue Point System at Hammerschmidt
New Security System Goes Live in District 44 Schools
District 44 has officially activated the Blue Point System, which was installed in all schools throughout the district earlier this year. In an effort to provide important information to our families prior to the system being live, we encourage you please take three minutes to watch the brief video included with this communication.
More About the System
Blue Point was created with a very specific goal – to provide our first responders with the information they need to make faster, more informed decisions in the event of a life-threatening emergency. We are hopeful we never have to use this system; however, if we do, this will ensure a more rapid and informed response by police and fire.
There are two types of pulls installed in every school: police and medical. The police pull station is blue and the medical pull station is green. Each school has several of each kind installed throughout the building.
Once activated, first responders are notified of the specific school as well as the exact location within the building where the emergency is occurring. Additionally, it provides police with access to live camera feeds to see into the building and a 2-way communications platform where building occupants can provide relevant information to the command group and the command group can provide updates and instructions.
