SEES Physical Education News
March 2024
Hello SEES families!
We have had so much fun in our jump rope unit. Students have grown so much in their abilities. From the littles who are just learning how to jump, to the upper grades who are learning new tricks and joining our 1, 2, and 3 minute club. We are so proud of the hard work and tenacity students have been exhibiting during this unit. So many students have told me they have been practicing at home and even asking parents to buy them a jump rope. Way to go parents for helping to foster a love of movement for your kiddos! We finished off our unit with a jump party in all classes with the long and short ropes and even a mega rope and the helicopter ropes!
We are sad to end our jump rope unit but we have some exciting things up ahead. This month 5th graders will be completing their Fitnessgram fitness test. 3-5 graders will be invited to try out for our school track team. K-2 will be working on fun fitness games where we will be learning and practicing proper form of fitness exercises like planks, v-sits, squats and more. It's going to be a busy and fun month in physical education class!

Fitnessgram
5th grade families,
Your student will perform the Fitnessgram fitness test. The test is just a series of fitness tests to test student's health-related physical fitness. The test if given to all 5th, 7th and 9th graders in California. How we conduct the test has changed over the years and is now given to students as information on their health-related fitness in each area of the test. The scores are no longer sent to the State and there are no more healthy fitness zones. Students are encouraged to do their best on each test and use their scores for goal setting and future growth.
SEES Track team!
We will be starting tryouts for our SEES track team. The track meet is a one day event where our students will compete against 5 other schools in our district. We will pick 1 boy and 1 girl for each event (relay x4) and 1 boy/girl alternate for each grade level. Alternates will race in a 100m alternate race/cover for any student in their grade who is absent. Permission slips will come home to students who make the team. We encourage everyone to tryout regardless of whether they think they will make it. It's fun to see how fast they can run and how far they can throw and jump!
