Welcome to the 2021/22 School Year!
I hope you are all having a wonderful summer! With the calendar turning to August, it's time to start thinking about the start of the new school year. We are very excited that we will be fully in-person this school year. We are working hard to prepare for the start of the school year, and there is a lot of information to share with you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at 651-748-6500; we are here to help!

Covid Update
As most of you know, Superintendent Tucci Osorio provided an update to families earlier this week. Here is the Covid information she provided in her communication in case you missed it:
Learning Model:
We will be welcoming back students to school in person five days a week. If your student would prefer to be full-time in an online setting, District 622 is an approved online learning provider in Minnesota. Please visit this link to learn more about 622 Online.
Face Coverings:
During our summer programming, masks were optional for students and staff, except on transportation which is a federal requirement. We are currently reviewing the latest guidance from the Minnesota Departments of Education and Health on plans for this upcoming school year. We will communicate our plans for this school year by Friday, August 13, 2021.
COVID Vaccination:
The COVID vaccination is not required for students or staff to return to school, however, it is highly recommended. There are still many vaccination events taking place around our community. District 622, in partnership with Washington County, will host a COVID vaccine clinic on Wednesday, August 18. Click this link to learn more.
Other logistics:
We will continue to run the medical-grade air purifiers in all classroom locations this year.
Custodial staff will continue sanitizing schools each day.
Buses will be sanitized between each route.
Free Meals and we need your help!
There is one important thing we need your help with. We are asking all 622 families to complete the Application for Educational Benefits for this upcoming school year. While school meals will continue to be free this year, completing this application also provides additional funding to our schools to help us better serve you and your child. It also can qualify your child for reduced district athletics and activities fees, and testing fees, among others. Maplewood Middle families have always done an amazing job of completing this form before the school year starts. I would truly appreciate it if you took a few minutes to complete the form.
