NEW: Virtual Academy Application process
Dear Parents and Guardians:
The 2021-2022 Virtual Academy Application process opened yesterday, June 2, and will close July 2. As a reminder, MCPS will provide an in-person, five-day-a-week schedule for students in the fall. This plan aligns with the resolution passed by the Maryland State Board of Education. We are pleased to also offer a full-time virtual learning program for students in kindergarten through Grade 12.
MCPS initially identified specific criteria for the Virtual Academy to ensure we meet the needs of students and remain aligned with guidance and feedback we received from stakeholders on the return to in-person learning for the upcoming school year. We have made several updates to the application to further clarify that qualifying extenuating circumstances can include physical and mental health-related reasons, as well as demonstrated student improvement during virtual learning.
We apologize for any confusion and encourage all families who feel this program will be a good fit for their child to apply and provide any available supporting materials. All applications will be reviewed and responses will be provided on a rolling basis.
MCPS will host parent information sessions next week to provide you with an opportunity to have questions answered about the Virtual Academy and the application process. A flyer with dates and times of the parent sessions will be shared with the community soon.
As a reminder, parents/guardians can submit an application by July 2 by:
· Applying on ParentVUE.
· Dropping off a paper application and supporting documentation at the summer school office, located in Room 110 at Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Dr. in Rockville, between 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
· Emailing the application form and supporting documentation to MoCoVirtual@mcpsmd.org.
· Calling the Community Hotline at 240-740-7020 between 7 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday-Friday (coming soon).
For more information and to complete an application, visit the Virtual Academy website: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/virtualacademy/. Parents/guardians can also send questions/comments to MoCoVirtual@mcpsmd.org. Thank you for your continued support.

Long-Range Plan Addresses Student Math Performance
Nationally, the COVID-19 pandemic has had the greatest impact on mathematics performance than any other content area. Intentional adjustments were made to the content and pacing of curriculum to adapt to the virtual schedule and to address unlearned content from the beginning of the pandemic. MCPS has developed a long-range plan to address this. More information is available below.

June, July and August are critical months to place orders. MCPS has set a goal to raise $300,000 to purchase backpacks and school supplies for students across our school system. Help spread the word about this campaign by sharing the campaign flyer with colleagues, family, friends and community members. Every donation helps a student in need. Learn more about Give BACKpacks.

Graduating Seniors,
Your Montgomery County Public Schools Google Suite account will become inactive on June 30, 2021. After June 30, you will no longer be able to check your Gmail or access Google Drive. It is recommended that you do a full data export from your Google Suite account using Google Takeout before June 30.
You can export and download your data from the Google products you use, like your email, calendar, and photos. In a few easy steps, create an archive to keep for your records or use the data in another service.
- Visit the Download your data page. You might have to sign in to your MCPS Google Account.
- Choose which Google products to include in your download. To see more details and options for a product, select the More Info link.
- Select Next Step.
- Select a delivery method. “Send download link via email” is the recommended option.
- Select Export Once.
- Select Create Export
When your archive is created by using one of these options, Google will email you a link to its location. Depending on the amount of information in your account, this process could take a few minutes or several hours. Most people get the link to their archive the same day that they request it.
Thank you and have a wonderful summer.
