WANTED ALIVE
Woody the WoodStork (Mycteria americana)
Wanted for eating fish and wading in private water
- Can be seen wading in ponds and catching fish
- Last seen in Mobile Tensaw Delta
- Long thin legs for wading in water
- Long beak for catching and eating fish
- Threatened species
- Losing space to live because trees are being cut down
- Needed to keep down the fish population
- 5,000 to 15,000 pairs of Wood Storks left
We need to save the Wood Stork or the number of fish will over flow. We can increase the odds of seeing animals like Woody by not cutting down their trees and destroying their home. If we continue to cut down their trees they will have nowhere to live, so they could possibly become extinct. If we stop cutting down the trees the Wood Storks will increase in number, which will keep the fish population to a reasonable number.
