Other than stopping by the Library once or twice a week, the very best way to stay up to date on what’s happening in our vibrant ministry is to follow us on Instagram! All the information and reminders you need, plus extra tidbits from the world of books and book lovers. pcbclibrary is our handle.
Check out our Highlights for a collection of recommendations such as Kids Books, New Books, Espanol, and seasonal resources for Thanksgiving (Gratitude) Christmas (Advent) and Easter (Lenten Season) - an archive of stories that share 40 titles to help you prepare your heart for the joy of Easter Sunday. You will find these seasonal book recommendations in stories on Facebook and Instagram.
Community Story Time Fun
It’s hard to tell who has the most fun at our Community Story Times, 10:00 -10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Our readers think reading to toddlers is the best fun in the world. The grown-ups enjoy catching up with each other and comparing parenting notes. And the littles like the stories and love the songs and snacks. We invite kids to bring their favorite grown-up—a mom, dad, grand, or nanny. Join us and bring your friends.
Wednesday Evening Book Club
Three more Wednesday Evening Book Clubs are scheduled for this spring:
March 11 – FICTION – A Gentleman in Moscow, by Amor Towles
April 8 – NON-FICTION – Factfulness, by Hans Rosling
May 6 – READERS’ CHOICE – Selection chosen by participants
Starting at 6:30 p.m., people can eat beforehand or even grab supper to go and come join us. We adjourn no later than 8:00 p.m. You can read the book in advance and participate in the discussion, which we will facilitate. Are you interested? Want to know more? Contact Emily Martin at elmartin@pcbc.org.

Thread Heads to meet on Wednesday Afternoons
Who knew that our Thread Heads group would be such a success? Each week, we gather around our table to knit, crochet, stitch, or just talk. Come join us on Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Beginners are welcome: We would love to teach you our favorite hobby. Let us know if you’re interested in coming: elmartin@pcbc.org.
PCBC Library Volunteers Party Heartily
There’s no way to fully thank our volunteers for their amazing service. But we can have a party to show our appreciation. This year’s gala, on February 20, had a Presidents Day theme. Guests performed show-and-tell about their favorite U.S. Presidents, competed in President Trivia and worked on a President Word Search. Lunch was all-American fried chicken and mac & cheese. If this sounds like big fun (it was!) YOU should plan to volunteer now so you can come next year!
Please Think About Volunteering in the PCBC Library
We still have some openings on weekdays. No need for a long-term commitment; just a couple of hours now and then would be really helpful. You can sign up online by clicking the button below, or just telephone or come on in to talk about it.
New Books for Spring!
Here are some of the new books that we’ve added to the Library Collection. Also, we’ve added a bunch of new titles to our OverDrive collection of e-books and downloadable audiobooks.
Several of these titles would count toward your Reading Challenge 2020 for the "published in 2019 or 2020" category!
Non-fiction Titles
Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen
Chasing Vines by Beth Moore
The Cross of Christ by John Stott
Fiction Titles
Collateral Damage by Lynette Eason
Sweet on You by Becky Wade
Promised Land by Robert Whitlow
Children's Titles
Chase is on the Case!
DRagons Love Tacos 2
Narwhal on a Sunny Night
Take the 2020 Challenge
Stretch yourself a little by taking on the 2020 Challenge. Between now and December 31, read 20 books of different genres, such as a book about animals, a book by a PCBC author, a book about the Bible, and so on. Lots of great ideas to stretch your boundaries a bit. If you want a prize, we’ll think of one. But the real prize is just the fun and accomplishment of reading a bunch of books. You can also accept the 12 Months/12 Books Challenge. It’s all good.
Click the Right Button
There’s a new member database at Park Cities Baptist Church. It’s known as TouchPoint, and it’s a treasure trove of useful information. When you go to the PCBC website, you’ll find a Member Login button in the upper righthand corner of each page. It couldn’t be easier to log on and check out your member profile.
But – if you want to access our online patron access catalog, OPAC, don’t confuse the Member Logon button on the Library page with the Account Log On, which is on the Library Catalog.
It’s just a little confusing if you’re a newbie at this. So check it out and give us a call if you have trouble logging in to OPAC. Hint: You can get directly to our OPAC page and log on using our FREE Librista app on your phone. Or if you’re at your computer, use this link.
