St. Stan Star
May 10, 2017
From the Principal's desk
The count down for the last week of school has begun! How exciting to know that summer vacation is just days away! This will be the last STAR for the school year. Today Family Folders were sent home with the students. Included in the folder were items that have been shared with the school over the last couple of weeks.
Teachers are having to deal with fidget spinner/cubes in the classroom. These items have become quite a distraction in the classroom. Like other schools in the area, I am asking that students not bring these items to school unless there is a substantiated reason for them to have them as a part of the learning process. Any further incident with these items will result in it being stored in the principal’s office until parents come to pick it up. Thanks for your help in creating a learning environment in the last few days of school.
On Monday, May 15 the school will graduate 16 students. Graduation Mass is at 7:00 p.m. At the end of Mass there will a presentation of awards and then the presentation of diplomas. A reception for the graduates, family, and friends will be held in the gym. Congratulations to the Class of 2017.
There are 18 students registered in the incoming kindergarten class. There are officially 19 students in our Early Childhood class for next fall. Therefore the Early Childhood class is now closed and any additional inquiries will be placed on a waiting list.
I am happy to announce that all of our teachers have signed on for next year. Each will be in the same position as this current year. The teachers and staff have made this an incredible school year, and we look forward to continuing our efforts in the 2017-2018 school year.
As we review this school year, there is much that can make us proud to say that we belong to St. Stanislaus. Not only have our students excelled in extracurricular activities like sports, Spelling Bee, science fair, art etc., they have excelled in their learning as well. The school recently received the results of the Assessment of Catechesis/Religious Education (ACRE) test. Both eighth and fifth grade classes take this annual test. The students are tested on the 6 Domains of Faith Knowledge: Liturgical Life, Moral Formation, Prayer, Communal Life, Missionary Spirit, and Knowledge of the Faith. In EVERY subtest for both grades, the St. Stanislaus Student scored above the National Average; sometimes as much as 10 points! Such amazing results can only be accomplished with strong study skills, good instruction, supportive parents, and a parish that models the faith.
During the Awards Assembly on May 18, students will be recognized for their academic excellence. In addition, students are also recognized for other activities and how they share the mission of our school through faith, service, integrity, and leadership.
All are welcome to attend our ending mass for the school year on Thursday, May 18 at 8:00. The Awards Assembly follows the mass. School dismisses for the summer at the end of the assembly which is usually around 10:30 a.m. Buses will run routes at 11:00 a.m. No lunch will be served. There will not be After School Care services on this day.
Thanks to all for the many blessings we have received this school year. I wish to recognize the importance of our parish community that provides a school where a student’s whole life can be saturated with the Spirit of Christ, where students can learn and grow in body, mind and spirit. The ever generous support of our families and our parish is encouraging and brings hope for the future of our church. MANY MANY THANKS!

Walk for Life
Our April 30 Walk for Life could have been called the “Ride for Life” this year, but the persistent rain didn’t dampen the spirits of our enthusiastic pro-lifers—who enjoyed food, prizes and interaction with seven local pro-life organizations at the Wardsville Lions Club. Winners for collecting the most money for pro-life include Kally Bruce, daughter of Jamie and Gwen Bruce, who collected $685; Alison Kolb, daughter of Doug and Angie Kolb, who collected $285; and Miranda Kolb—also the daughter of Doug and Angie Kolb, who collected $260. There were quite a few other students who collected at least $100. Thank you all for your commitment to life! The class with the highest class participation was Mrs. Steinlage’s 4th grade class. These 4th grade students will receive a dress-down day pass, and Mrs. Steinlage will receive a gift card! Second highest class participation was Mrs. Markway’s 1st grade class! Mrs. Markway’s class will receive an extra recess, and Mrs. Markway will have a break from recess duty on her day of choice. Substituting in her place will be one of the pro-life committee. Thank you, St. Stanislaus students, for your generous contribution to the Walk for Life from your dress-down day endeavor! Thank you, St. Stanislaus and St. Margaret’s parishes, and all students and community who donated or participated in any way! We so much appreciate your efforts and kindness in action! May God bless you for your continued support of the unborn!
