Students Experience Solar Eclipse
Students learn from solar phenomenon
Students of all ages learned from a near-total solar eclipse April 8 at locations throughout Springdale Public Schools.
A total solar eclipse crossed North America that day, passing over Mexico, the United States and Canada. Springdale experienced an eclipse of about 98%.
A total solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the sun, causing the sky to darken as if it were dawn or dusk.
Springdale Schools partnered with Explore Scientific and the Arkansas STEM Coalition to provide solar viewing glasses for all district students and staff members, which will allowed participants to safely experience the eclipse.

Seven visually impaired Springdale Public Schools students experienced the historic April 8 total solar eclipse in Morrilton at an event featuring NASA representative Denna Lambert.
Lambert, who is blind, is the lead for NASA’s Early Stage Innovations and Partnerships program. Originally from Little Rock, she’s been at the forefront of advocating for inclusivity in space exploration and technology.
