Connecting with Kids
Mrs. Gustafson, kindergarten teacher at King Elementary, has been doing different things to keep her kiddos engaged by sending them videos, hosting virtual class time, and early on even going by their houses to say hello with her dog Frank. She surprised one student who was so excited to see her and Frank. Another student shared her coloring sheets to help spread kindness, love, and hope. (Photo courtesy: Mrs. Gustafson)
Sunrise PTO Scholarship
The Sunrise PTO brightened the weekend for three Mesa Ridge high school seniors by rewarding them each a $500 scholarship for their future endeavors. The certificates were delivered to the students' homes last Friday and their parents sent the below photos to Echo Hurdorn, Sunrise PTO president. (Photo courtesy: Echo Hurdorn)
Virtual History Day Competition
Students researched a topic based on this year's theme "Breaking Barriers." Students then created a project and choose one of five different categories to compete in including: Paper, Exhibit, Documentary, Performance, and Website.
Janitell students Maggie Morell and Alexius Manuszak won a special award from the League of Women Voters for their exhibit entry. Victoria Anderson took 3rd Place in "Individual Documentary" and qualified for state.

Day Without Hate - April 24, 2020
The Positive Action Team (PAT) is encouraging our district to observe Day Without Hate (DWOH) on Friday, April 24.
To celebrate this day, we are taking an amazing idea from Sproul Junior High sixth grade student Miaja Starke to decorate your own kindness heart with this year's slogan "In a world where you can be anything, Be Kind."
You can download the heart template with the slogan from our website or create your own.
The hearts can be placed in home windows or car windows to help spread kindness throughout the WSD3 community and beyond!
