S.W.I.M.
Fisher has a new mascot and we have condensed and updated our core values. At Fisher we S.W.I. M. together on the bus, in the classroom, hall, playground, cafeteria, and restroom. We demonstrate these values throughout the day including arrival and dismissal.

Show Respect
We say this many times, but what does it look like or sound like? This is one of our goals this year to Show Respect at Fisher School. It looks like- looking at the speaker, keeping our hands and feet to ourselves, following directions the first time they are given. It sounds like saying “please, thank you, excuse me”, and using kind words about others. It feels comfortable, welcoming, and safe. Join us in promoting respect.
Thank you to the Garden Committee
On August 9, fifty to sixty hardworking children and their parents with shovels in hand spread the mulch for the outdoor classroom. Mrs. Joanne Hirschfeld and some Fisher alums pitched to assist as well. Thank you.
Mrs. Jen Geosits and Mrs. Erin Flynn have written grants for the garden. They wrote a grant to Middlesex Savings Bank and were awarded $1000 for Fisher Farm. They were able to get Bass Pro Shop to donate an outdoor weather station, a bird feeder, and binoculars. The Katz family designed and donated a beautiful bench to the garden from Walpole Woodworkers. Mrs. Maura Beverly acquired the tree stumps for the outdoor classroom from NatureWorks Landscaping Services, Inc. in Walpole. The Metcalf Family, Metcalf Materials, Inc of Franklin donated the sand for the sub surface of the walk way for the classroom. The stone slabs for the outdoor chalk board was donated by Southridge Farm and Nursery Walpole. To all, we are so grateful!
We additionally thank Mr. Jed Romanowiz for his continuous assistance with our irrigation system and garden fence. We are so appreciative of Bob Leblanc and parks and recreation for coordinating our new concrete pathways to the garden.
As we are school and community garden, please come by on Thursday, Sept. 7 during our school's Ice Cream Social -5:30-6:30 pm for a garden walk through with your family and friends.

Responsive Classroom
Children learn best when they have strong academic and social-emotional skills. That’s why teachers using the Responsive Classroom approach focus on teaching all the skills needed for academic excellence. They teach children reading, writing, and math skills and also teach them how to take turns, listen respectfully, and work effectively with a partner or group.
Teachers also think carefully about everything from classroom setup to how they speak to their students. All these things put together determine how well children learn.
