Parent Weekly Update 3.8.24
Thank to our students and staff for a fantastic 2nd trimester! There is much to celebrate as we round the corner to the 3rd and final trimester of the school year. Special congratulations to our many sports teams, clubs, and academic competition teams for completing their seasons and representing our community with #GoslingPride.

End of Trimester 2
Believe it or not Friday, March 8 marks the end of the second trimester at WHS! WHS will have an early release day (11:30 a.m.) on Friday, March 8. Students who need to wait for a ride, can wait in the commons area. Buses will run at the regular time of 3:30 p.m.
If you or your student have any concerns about academic progress in any course, now is the time to communicate with your student’s teacher(s) and/or your student’s WHS counselor to be sure your student finds success! Students and families may also contact the Student Services Office by phone at (920) 262-7550.

Here are a few reminders as WHS quickly transitions from the end of the second trimester to the beginning of the third trimester:
- Trimester 2 grades are due on Wednesday, March 13, so you should be able to view those "final" grades on Thursday afternoon. Of course, you can always view grades via Skyward for the most up to date information.
- Trimester 3 starts Monday, March 11. Students should view and/or print their schedules via Skyward before Monday. Lunch periods with be shared with students on Monday, March 11.
- Parents and students are reminded that students may drop a course during the first three days of the trimester with parent and Student Services approval. To request a schedule change, please complete the schedule change request form.
March 13, 2024 - Junior ACT
No School for freshman, sophomore, or senior students
Junior students will take the statewide online ACT test in person at WHS on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Freshman, sophomore, and senior students will NOT report to school on Wednesday, March 13. Junior students are reminded to use their myact.org or IXL account to complete free practice tests.
On Monday, March 11, juniors will complete pre-registration/demographic information as well as selecting colleges to send their ACT results to via their myact.org accounts. Students must complete the myact.org information by Friday, March 15.
All WUSD junior students should report to WHS between 7:30 a.m. – 7:55 a.m. (breakfast provided) on test day, Wednesday, March 13. Testing begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. in all testing rooms, so please remind your student to do everything possible to arrive early so testing can begin on time!
Students are asked to please leave their cell phones, smart watches, electronic devices, and backpacks at home or in their vehicle as they are not allowed in the testing room. If a student has any interaction with their cell phone or other device, even during break times, the test will be invalid. Coats can be left in the back of the testing room as lockers will not be available.
Students MUST bring their WUSD Chromebook, Chromebook charger, a student ID/driver’s license, pencil and a calculator with them to the testing room. Students should plug in their Chromebook overnight to ensure it is fully charged on test day. Students will only be allowed to take the ACT on a district issued Chromebook.

FAFSA Night
Do you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA)? Do you need assistance or have questions about completing the FAFSA? Good news, help is available!
Watertown High School will hold a FAFSA Completion Night for students and parents on Monday, March 18th, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, in the WHS Media Center. University of Wisconsin Financial Aid Advisors will provide direct assistance to students and their parents.
Prior to attending, the student and each parent completing the FAFSA should create an FSA ID. A FSA ID is used by the student and their parent(s) to begin and digitally sign the FAFSA. Create an FSA ID at the Federal Student Aid Website. Please reach out to your school counselor with questions about creating a FSA ID.
Prom 2024
It's only the beginning of March, but everyone should mark their calendars for Saturday, May 4, which is the date of the WHS Junior Prom and Post Prom. Both events are open to EVERYONE at WHS.
Message from WHS Associate Principals:
Since prom is right around the corner, we want to make sure that students who are eligible to go to Prom can do so. Students must have served any outstanding detentions by Thursday, May 2nd. Additionally, students who are considered habitually truant (10 or more dates of unexcused absences/truancies) will not be allowed to purchase a ticket to prom. Are you looking to expand your family’s horizons?
Consider hosting a German student for ten days in October! From October 12th-20th, 20 students from Germany will be visiting Watertown High School as part of our exchange partnership, in existence since 2006. Watertown High School students will return the visit in June, 2025. Find out more about the exchange, hosting, and traveling to Germany on Sunday, March 17th in room S274 at 6 pm. Wisconsin American Legion Americanism and Government Scholarship Test
The Wisconsin American Legion offers this great scholarship opportunity for students. Students can win scholarships by testing themselves on their knowledge of government and flag etiquette. The test window is from March 4 – 15, 2024. Students in 10th, 11th or 12th grade take a 50 question timed test and answer an essay question to have a chance to win a scholarship. They should give themselves about 1 hour for the whole process which includes the registration, answering the 50 choice questions and answering the essay question. Please read the FAQs below to familiarize yourself with this opportunity.

Great Things Happening Around WHS!
March Rotary Students
Simeon Adrian is the son of Chad and Lisa Adrian. Simeon has been involved in Show Choir, WHS Carolers, and State Solo Ensemble the past four years at WHS. He has also participated in National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the WHS Musicals . When not at WHS, Simeon can be found taking part in local community musicals. Simeon is planning to major in finance.
Kelsie Schuett is the daughter of Alan and Tamara Schuett. Kelsie has participated in the following while at WHS: Softball, National Honor Society, Academic Decathlon, Show Choir, and WHS Carolers. Kelsie is currently working at Pine Cone Restaurant and plans on attending University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.
Sophie Sullivan is the daughter of Sarah and Michael Sullivan. Sophie has been involved in multiple honor societies including National Honor Society (President), Tri-M Music Honor Society (President), and Spanish Honor Society (Treasurer). Sophie has also participated in Show Choir, WHS Carolers, Jazz Band, and the WHS Musical. She has also participated in Cross Country and Track and Field. Outside of school, Sophie can be found working as a finance intern at Marquardt. Sophie plans on attending University of Minnesota - Twin Cities to study Art History and Economics.
Students in Companion Animals and Animal Care visited Equity to learn about livestock.
Agriscience students took their tractor safety certification test.
