Herd Highlights
March Teacher of the Month--Ms. Sheryl Goodnight!
Ms. Goodnight teaches 8th grade science at FMS, sponsored the UIL Science Team, and runs the Science in the News club on Fridays. Ms. Goodnight engages and inspires our students daily in her science classes by her creativity in instruction and in the labs she prepares for students. Ms. Goodnight is willing and able to execute new instructional strategies in her classroom and is extremely effective. Her enthusiasm for science and student learning is truly exhilarating.
Ms. Goodnight exemplifies an FMS staff teacher who pushes our Buffs to be the best they can be and also pushes herself to be the best she can be!
We are so glad she is on the FMS TEAM!
Congratulations to Ms. Goodnight!
Young Poets National Contest Publication
Congratulations to Brooke Long, an FMS 8th grader, she submitted 3 poems to the Young Poets national contest. One of her poems was chose to be included in the 2024 edition of the Young American Poetry Digest.
Young American Poetry Digest is a publishing opportunity for young poets across the United States. In order to be considered for publication, students write and submit a selection of original poetry. A committee of educators review submissions from across the country and makes a final decision based on the following criteria: creativity, age-appropriate language, sensory/figurative images, structure, and poetic techniques.
Brooke is a participant in our FMS Poetry club sponsored by Ms. Hood. Ms. Hood stated, "We have worked very hard on these submissions in Poetry Club, so it's exciting to see an FMS student recognized on a national level!"

Williamson County Community Health Survey
The purpose of this survey is to get your opinions about the health and well-being in Williamson County. The Williamson County Community Health Assessment (CHA) Task Force will use the results of this survey, along with interviews and focus groups with community members to identify the most urgent problems which can be addressed through community action efforts. Your opinion is needed and important. Your voice matters to us and will be put into action!
Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete it.
If you have any questions, please visit our website at www.healthywilliamsoncounty.org/cha.
Student Chromebooks
In order for your child to learn effectively and be successful in the classroom, they need to bring their fully charged school issued device and charger to school every day. A good practice for this is to have students charge their Chromebook at home with their Chromebook in their backpack. Remember, bringing Chromebooks and having them charged will enhance your students learning during the school day.
If your student has a broken Chromebook, please contact our librarian, Ms. Long, at clong@florenceisd.net for payment options.
Transportation Change Reminder
Student Transportation Change Reminder:
If parent or guardian changes the way his or her child is going home, contact the office prior
to 2:40pm. This gives a respectable amount of time to contact the office to ensure the safest
dismissal of your child.
Thank you.
