United Nations Day
October 24
Celebrate Peace and Respect for Humanity Throughout the World
The United Nations do different things such as settling disputes between nations, helping third world countries, and trying to help different people understand one another better. October 24 marks the day in 1945 that the United Nations (UN) came into being when the five permanent members of the security council, France, the Republic of China, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and the United States, ratified the charter that had been drawn up earlier that year. October 24 has been known as United Nations Day since 1948.
