New Tech College Prep Workshop
Save the Date: Thursday, August 11th from 12:30 – 4pm
New Tech High @ Coppell and Debbie Nelson have partnered to offer New Tech Seniors a comprehensive college prep workshop. Students will learn how to leverage their high school performance and experiences as they prepare for the college application process. We will answer questions like:
- What are my college options and how many colleges should I apply to?
- How do I find the college that’s right for me?
- What does the “ideal” college visit look like?
- What are colleges looking for in their applicants?
- How do I determine my chances of getting in?
- Should I apply Early Decision or Early Action?
- How will I pay for college (scholarships, financial aid etc.)?
- Will I qualify for Merit Aid?
- What can I do to stand out from the other college applicants?
- What can I do to increase my chances of getting into the colleges on my list?
- How much will my ACT and/or SAT scores matter and should I take them again?
- What is involved in completing a college application?
- How do I write a compelling essay?
- How do I create my college resume?
- How do I get “great” recommendations from my teachers and/or counselors?
- What does a college application timeline look like?
Please make plans to attend this workshop on August 11th from 12:30 - 4pm. Bring your laptop with you and make sure you are able to log into Naviance before you arrive.
Steffany Batik, Principal of NTH@C
My family is a large part of who I am and provide me inspiration daily. I have been married for the last 9+ years to Mark Batik. He is also an educator (we met at a debate tournament) and is currently the Director of Educational Technology at Jesuit College Prep. We have a 6 year old daughter who attends the STEM elementary school in GCISD and a 4 year old son who currently benefits from grandmother day-care and preschool. I can't wait for you all to meet my family at events and I look forward to meeting all of your families as well!

Raheela Shaikh, Assistant Principal NTH@C
I am so excited to be the new Assistant Principal at NTH@C! I am joining Coppell ISD with 10 years experience in education in Texas and Dubai, UAE. In Dubai, I was the Humanities Coordinator (KG-12) in a private American Curriculum school. I taught English to grades 8-12, AP Language, AP literature and electives. I was also a Senior Advisor, Student Council Advisor and MUN teacher. While teaching in Dubai, I trained as an Apple Professional Development Trainer, and was a Principal Intern for 2 years. In 2015, I relocated to Texas and joined Frisco ISD as an AP English teacher. This summer, I was given the amazing opportunity to become a part of the Coppell ISD community and I can’t wait to get to know all the wonderful students, staff, and parents.
My family is also excited about this new opportunity. My wonderful husband and I have been married for 16 years, and have a beautiful 12 year old daughter, who will be joining Coppell Middle School East and can’t wait to be a proud Bronco! We look forward to being active members of the NTHS@C family!
