What's Happening at ATP?
April 19 - 23, 2021
Dear Students, Families, and Staff
Congratulations ATP! The Oceanside Adult Transition program was so honored to receive the Excellence in Special Education Award from the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) for outstanding work in the Collaborative Team Category! The Consortium is made up of 14 school districts and hundreds of schools. We are so proud that our staff was recognized out of so many schools for their dedication and hard work. Even though this was a challenging year, our team at ATP remained passionate about reaching our students in creative ways. They learned new technology together, encouraged each other and never gave up on each other or our students. I am so proud to lead such a wonderful group of people and am proud of the program we are building here at ATP.
As always, we are striving to do as much as we can, for as many as we can, for as long as we can to support our students' skills, and future success.
Sincerely,
Grace Ridgeway
Coordinator, Special Education

What's your "WORD" for the year?
What researchers have been focusing on...
Double masking. Recently, the CDC released a new study affirming that two are better than one when it comes to face masks. And that a surgical and cloth mask combo can block nearly 93% of cough particles. (Here are some tips on how to properly mask up.)
Wordly Wise Wednesday
Sharing positivity and kindness Wednesdays! It starts off one day a week, and hopefully the word spreads and continues to sprinkle its goodness. Each Wednesday, join us in wearing and sharing positivity around our school and community. We will take pictures each week.
Be creative, make your own shirt to share!

OUSD Adult Transition Program (OATP)
The adult transition program (ATP) serves students with disabilities who are between the ages of 18 and 22. ATP prepares students to participate in educational, employment, and community-based activities. Daily instruction focuses on activities of daily living and includes opportunities to practice these skills within the classroom and their community. ATP provides a bridge to support students in accessing post-secondary options including courses at local colleges, obtaining competitive integrated employment, and participating in regionalized programs. The primary goal for ATP is to promote opportunities for students to become more independent and become contributing members of their communities.
