Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students & Families,
It has been a week of great celebrations and success at CHS. Media Arts teacher Ian Eilert won this month’s CARE award and was honored at Monday’s Board Meeting. Mr. Eilert is one of our many outstanding educators who serve students in and out of the classroom.
All 9-12 grade students got the opportunity to attend our College and Career Fair on Monday. This was an awesome opportunity to speak with over 50 representatives from colleges, military, and the workforce. Thank you to our College and Career Center for coordinating this event. Also this past week, every incoming 9th grader met with an administrator and counselor to complete their forecasting process. It was so fun to speak with the incoming class of 2028!
Our state champion Choir won the NWOC league championship and will take their talents to the state competition. Check out their performance here. FBLA sent 14 students to the FBLA State Business Leadership Conference this year. Joe Scott won first in state in Supply Chain Management and qualified for nationals. Isa Arredondo, Maddie Fox, Juniper Hansen, Ella Walker, Katie Spillum, Sydney Matlock, Gracie Carter, Hadley Bierma, Hayden Jeffery, Hunter Jeffery and Ethan Jeffery all qualified for the national conference as well. 20 students attended the Oregon State Thespian Competition and took home many awards, including Cadenza Billingslea’s 2nd place in sound design. Our artists also recently attended the NWOC art conference and Tate Mains-Ferrier won 2nd place in Drawing and Alexandra Rodriguez won 3rd place in Oil Pastels. See more information about all of these accomplishments in the Athletics and Activities section below.
CHS students shine in so many ways. Students are given so many opportunities to hone and show off their talents. It is my pleasure to watch them grow into adults.
Have a Wonderful Week!
Best,
Cari Sloan

Important Information
GAP Party Volunteers Needed
Junior and Senior Parents! Canby GAP (Graduation All-Night Party) needs volunteers to help at the Tulip Festival this weekend only! Saturday and Sunday shifts available. This is a huge fundraiser that helps support the Senior all-night party. If you are able to volunteer, please sign up to help. Students also earn volunteer hours for working a shift. Contact Shawna Welander at (503) 819-1374 if you are able to help for any portion of the weekend.
What’s Cooking?
At school, there’s always a meal ready to be served!
Some mornings, it’s tough to find the time to make sure your kids are eating a nutritious
breakfast. On those days, why not send them to the School Breakfast Program? Each meal
meets government nutritional guidelines and standards. Schools are required to provide a
breakfast meal that includes fruit, whole-grain rich items, and low fat or fat free milk. Check
your child’s menu to see the variety of nutritious choices available at School Breakfast, or stop
by to sample the food yourself!
Library Texts
Canby School District libraries use CSD guidelines for selecting new texts. This school year, new titles for circulation will be posted quarterly on the CSD Library Curation web page to provide our community with this information. Please click here to learn more.

Baseball
After losing a game to Piedra Vista (NM) during their spring break tournament, baseball has been on a 3-game win streak. Their current record is 8-2 with their only other loss coming from Jesuit. The team is currently ranked #3 in the OSAA, and on Tuesday they beat #1 ranked Wilsonville 4-2. The Cougars are looking great! Come support the team tomorrow 4/12 @ Wilsonville.

Canby varsity softball finished up pre-season last week with a record of 4-6. The girls played some of the toughest 6A teams in the state and are excited to start league this week against Hillsboro and Centennial. The Cougars had an impressive win last week coming back from a 6-0 deficit to Mountainside to take the win 9-8. We are excited to see what league has in store for this program!
