Principal's Note
Happy New Year Lamar Families!
We are so excited to be starting our 2nd semester of our 2021-22 school year!
We have a lot to look forward to this semester and are excited to continue to help your child grow! Main updates are below:
Academic Updates: In January, students will take their Mid Year STAR Assessment and receive reports cards on Friday, January 10. Please discuss your child's semester 1 progress with them and sign and return these report cards. We will have a Mid Year Academic Honors Assembly on Friday, January 14 to recognize students who made exceptional gains on their STAR and Case 21 Assessments. All 8th Grade students will be taking the National Assessment of Education Progress in math and ELA on January 26 (more info TBA).
Family Involvement- Kindergarten families, save the date for our Kindergarten Literacy Night and Performance of Jan Brett's "The Mitten" on January 25th at 5:30 PM. Also, look for more information soon about a February Math and Science Night and an Arts Night in March.
Homecoming: Starting on January 5th, and running through January 10th, we will celebrate Homecoming Week. See the flyer below for more information.

- January 10- Middle School Homecoming Pep Rally/ Homecoming Game (5 PM) & Court (around 6 PM)/ Mini STREAM Camps Resume (Grades 1-5)
- January 11- EPIC! Snow Tubing Trip (Grades 6-8)
- January 14- Mid Year Academic Assembly
- January 17- No School- MLK
- January 21- Fun Friday (concession open after lunch)
- January 25- Kindergarten Literacy Night and Performance "The Mitten"
- January 26- NAEP Testing (8th Grade)
- January 28- 8th Grade Fine Arts Field Trip to DCHS
