Message from the Principal
A MESSAGE FROM BRIAN FORSHEE, CFHS PRINCIPAL
School Board Recognition Month
Congratulations to the Boys and Girls CFHS Swim Team as they advance to regionals. CFHS now own 4 LCISD pools records! Our Counselor Team is hard at work on course selection with only a few days left before 1 on 1 begins. Please see course selection timeline below. The 4th six-weeks progress report grading period ended, and progress reports will be viewable in Skyward on January 30th.
Don't forget the expectations for the second semester, they're the SAME rules!
Dress code, ID, and phone rules start when you enter the building.
Don't forget that hoodies must be down inside the building ALL day.
- Phones/AirPods/headphones should not be visible in the HALLWAYS from 8:25-3:50 daily! This INCLUDES between classes. Please put them in your backpack, or they will be taken up. There is no need to argue or get upset when that happens because you have been given plenty of time to learn this.
Attendance Questions? Please use the following email anytime: attendance-fulshear@lcisd.org

Instructional Challenges for the Week! Give them a try!
Small Group for the WIN!
Figuring out how to differentiate is no easy task. Using a teacher small group allows teachers to really work with students on what they need. This can be remediating a test, practicing content, and much much more! We were glad to see teachers using small groups this week!
Keeping it Essential
Tactile Learning for Content Retention and Retrieval
For content that requires memorization, sometimes paper and pencil will not enact the brain retrieval process necessary for students to learn the material. By changing up the way students process the information, there is a higher liklihood for rentention. In this class, students painted the content on tee shirts and then wore them to school for discussion.
Charger Time
Please make sure that you are enrolled in the Charger Time Canvas and access it each day during Charger Time.
There may be short tasks for students or information for students from Mr. Forshee, Ms. Saville, counselors, etc. Click the purple button to access the Canvas. Navigate to the appropriate week/day.
Information from Instructional Coaches
Everyone is doing a remarkable job working to engage our students! Don't forget our "big three" strategies that connect to last years 8 Kagan strategies!
1. Get them moving.
2. Get them talking.
3. Get them in front of you.
Do your students know the goal/objective of the day's work? Can they tell you in their own words?
We are learning more and more about AVID WICOR strategies, and this week we discused the CORNELL WAY and the 10-2-2 Structure. If you want to learn more about this, and you should, here's where you can find the presentation: AVID Cornell Way and 10 2 2
If you'd like Ann or Jess to go over this quickly, during PLC, just let us know!
Want copies of the AVID style notes discussed at WW?

Students can access the site by going to https://collegeguidanceconsultants.com/login/. Students can stop by Room 1500 for the username and password. Students can also ask their English teacher for the username and password.
Changes to the Service Cord Guidelines – Effective 12/16/2023
The LCISD Service Cord Guidelines have been updated and will go into effect on 12/16/23. Students must now attend a volunteer service function to receive hours. Moving forward, creating cards, decorations, or baked goods and donating those items to an organization will not be accepted as hours towards Service Cord. We are no longer accepting these types of hours due to organizations within our community having more volunteer opportunities since the COVID-19 pandemic stipulations have been lifted.

The next Service Cord deadline will be April 15th for seniors and May 1st for 9th – 11th graders. Students are not required to participate in the Service Cord.
Spring AP Exam Registration
If your student is registered for a spring semester AP class, registration is open for them to decide if they plan to take the AP exam and pay for the exams using Total Registration. Students who are enrolled in a yearlong AP class can still register and pay for their AP exam with a late fee.
