Happy Catholic Schools Week!
Grandparent's Day Check Out Procedure
It has become our tradition at Vermilion Catholic, a legacy of Mount Carmel, to host our annual Grandparents' Day during Catholic Schools Week. This day will consist of classroom visits for our lower grade levels and Adoration for our upper grade students and our grandparents. Following these events, we will invite grandparents to check out their grandchildren from school to continue this special day with a meal off campus, a special outing together, etc. In order to help to make this day as special as we can and in order for us to plan accordingly, we are asking that all parents give advance permission for their child/ren to leave school with their grandparent after our activities are finished

Senior Parents
Hello parents and guardians of VC seniors!
I'm the yearbook sponsor, Blaire Desormeaux. Our yearbook crew is ready to start putting together the Diapers to Diplomas section, pages that honor your senior children reaching this momentous time in their lives.
We are asking that you send two pictures of your senior child: one baby picture and one current picture. Please send digital copies to me at BlaireDesormeaux@vermilioncatholic.com OR hard copies in an envelope marked ATTN: Blaire Desormeaux to the front office no later than May 6, 2024.
We appreciate your help and look forward to honoring your child!
Thank you,

Library News
Dear Parents and Guardians,
C.P. Landry, the author of the Cajun Kids Adventures book series, will be visiting our school on Wednesday, February 7. He will speak to 4th, 5th and 6th grades on the inspiration for his book series, Cajun culture and the importance of reading.
His books will be available for purchase by presale. All 4 of the Cajun Kids Adventures books have AR tests worth 6 points.
If you are interested in purchasing a book for your student, please complete the attached form. A copy of this form will be sent home with your student as well. Books purchased by presale will be personalized and signed by the author. Books will be available the day of his visit but only signed by the author, not personalized.
Forms can be sent to the front office on the lower campus or given to me by Thursday, January 31. Please make checks payable to Vermilion Catholic. A percentage of the proceeds from books sales will benefit the library.
Thank you for your support.

***Students need to bring a pencil, highlighter, and the Required graphing calculator: TI-84 PLUS CE***
THE CALCULATOR MUST BE THE NEWEST version: TI-84 PLUS CE with “CE”
At each of my classes, I teach students time saving testing strategies, how to efficiently use the graphing calculator, and how to use my personally coded calculator programs. Year after year, the math section of the ACT always test on the same math skills (Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry). Therefore, I review ACT math content, but I use DIFFERENT types of math questions at each class so that a student can attend multiple classes and see a variety of ways of how they will be asked to solve a math skill.
As the students are working each ACT math problem at their table, I explain and show them how to solve it efficiently and correctly using the calculator. As a group, we work each math problem together…one problem at a time.
A student (or their parent) can register for one or both classes by texting me at 337-577-1802 to let me know that they will attend the class.
Thank you,
Carrie Listi
