Talley Student Honored for Strives for Peace
Alexandra Korn, 7th Grader at Talley, won first prize in the art contest with her heart-shaped artwork shown above. She hand drew the piece using colored pencils, showing how different countries across the world are all linked together. In addition to a $100 prize, she will be honored at a dinner hosted by the Claymont Lions Club.
Congratulations to Alexandra on showing how peace should look and promoting community and love. This exemplifies the IB philosophy of international connection and the IB learner profile trait of caring that we teach at Talley. You represent Talley in a very positive light and we encourage you to keep making beautiful artwork!
A peek into our Classrooms: Science
Starting this Thursday for the next couple of weeks, Talley students have an amazing opportunity to explore some interesting science careers while also engaging in the science behind chemical and physical changes!
The program is called “Drop Anywhere Labs” and it is run by a non-profit organization called Learning Undefeated. Talley students will have the opportunity to learn about STEM careers and engage in hands-on science activities. There are two parts – the first is a shipping container outfitted with an interactive screen that students use to problem-solve activities related to chemical vs. physical changes. Then, the students will complete lab activities in the classroom that also relate to chemical vs. physical changes. The students are going to love it, and a special thanks to Department Chair Mrs. Rosen for organizing this opportunity.
