Sunset Music Happenings
This year four 4th grade students are participating in the Big Horn Basin Elementary Music Festival. We are traveling to Lovell on Saturday, April 6th, to enjoy a day of making music with a culminating concert at the end of the day.
Kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms are busy working on our music program. We are performing the musical, A Barnyard Moosical, on April 9th at 6:30 p.m. The performance will be at the Cody High School Wynona Thompson Auditorium.
Costume information: ***Students singing on risers may dress as a farmer, farmer’s wife, or barnyard animals. (cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, mice, horses, etc.). You will need to create your costume for the program. I will provide masks for the students who are animal narrators or chosen to be extra pigs, chickens or cows.
Thanks everyone. If you have any questions, please call me at school. 587-4279

School Counselor
Wow, I can't believe how fast the school year has gone. It certainly has been a pleasure working with your students. I can't wait to continue teaching them about being a respectful and fair kid of character. They are also learning about problem-solving skills.
I am teaching from the Second Step program and the Six Pillars of Character. The Second Step program is intended to teach children to identify and understand their own and others' emotions, choose positive goals, and successfully manage reactions when emotionally triggered. I teach these skills from the 4 units of skills for learning, empathy, problem solving, and emotional regulation.
I'm also getting ready to put on a Career Fair on Friday, May 10th, for our students. I devote all of May discussing potential careers getting our students ready for the career fair.
I'm here to help in any way that I can, so please let me know if there is something that I can help with. I'm looking forward to a wonderful and exciting rest of the year.
Respectfully,
Linda Baumstarck

3rd Grade Swim Lessons
Free swimming lessons are being offered by the Rec Center to 3rd graders, The last session is April 1 through April 11, Mondays through Thursdays. Class sizes are limited to 12 students per class. Due to class sizes and to maximize the time allowed for teaching swim classes, there are two different time slots; 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. and 4:15-4:45 p.m. Once all lessons are complete all children still in the pool will be directed to the locker rooms to change.
Rec Center registration forms and information about the swimming lessons were sent home in January, information about the lessons are also on the Sunset website at https://5il.co/2bxkc. Completed registration forms need to be returned to the Rec Center. A bus will transport students from Sunset School to the Rec Center, parents will pick up their student after the lesson. Parents must pick their student up at the Rec Center NO LATER than 5:00 p.m.
Make sure your student leaves home with their swimming clothes and a towel!
