News from Dr. Wachel
This was OUR week to welcome Madison's in-person and virtual learners back to school for an entire week! And, it was simply AMAZING!
We know the remote learning model is a new adventure and there are certainly challenges in executing it. To that end, I want to relay my gratitude to our families who have given our team grace, who have partnered with us to problem-solve issues, and who have remained positive and steadfast on our mission to serve all students. Likewise, I applaud the Madison staff members who have spent countless hours preparing for this new learning opportunity. Our team has been flexible and fluid. And, they have set their focus upon educating the whole child and serving the most important people in people’s lives -- their children!
Thank you for your grace and patience as we work through different processes and procedures to help keep our students, staff, and families safe. To help our car rider line, if families could prop up the car rider placard that will help Mrs. Collum effectively and efficiently call out student names. Thank you for your help with our car rider line.
As we set our expectations high for the year ahead, I have zero doubts that working together in a strong unified partnership with our families and our Madison learning community will allow us to exceed expectations for the school year. Thank you, families, for believing in our Madison team and for your continued support. TOGETHER, we will make this year a tremendous experience for each and every Bear!
Counselor and Social Worker Corner
Families, huge congratulations on completing the first full week back at school! We have LOVED seeing our Bears remotely and in person!
We created a VIRTUAL CALM CORNER for students to use with fun interactive activities to calm and center oneself. Check it out here. Our virtual calm room also includes a place where students can let us know if they want to talk. Once they fill out the form requesting to talk, we will find a good time to do this in their schedule. For our remote learners, we will schedule this with their parent/ guardian in order to talk via zoom. Remember, we are here for all of our bears social, emotional, and mental health! We are in this together!
We also want to parents and guardians to have a simple way to contact us if you need additional support. We know the pandemic is bringing forth unique and challenging situations. This could include physical needs, emotional needs, or academic needs. Simply fill out this family check-in form as needs arise throughout the school year.
Of course, you can also email or call us as well.
With smiles under our masks and socially distanced hugs,
Jackie and Deb
