PowerSchool Update
Please update your annual forms by September 1, 2022. To update forms, log in to Powerschool, select Quick Links, then find "Information Update 22-23" under Custom Links. Please call the office with any questions.
Update to Parent Portal: Parents and guardians will sign in with their username (email address) and their password. When logging in for the first time this school year, please click "Forgot Username or Password" link to reset your password.
Incoming kindergarten families: You should have received an email from Linda Konopinski (after registering) containing directions on how to create and access your parent account in our online Powerschool Unified Classroom Parent Portal. If you need this information again, please contact Linda Konopinski at lkonopinski@scsmustangs.org or 440-846-4137. This will be important to set up to access important information.

Summer Reading Game Returns: June 4th – August 14th, 2022. In honor of Cuyahoga County Public Library's 100th anniversary our 2022 summer reading theme is "Celebrate 100 Years of Reading." Participants in our summer reading program track their reading in 20-minute increments to earn midpoint and completion prizes, and grand prize raffle entries. Did You Know?
The Strongsville Branch Library now has available for use in our Library a Large Print Computer Keyboard. For those in need of a low vision large print keyboard, it is available to use with our computers, you can stop at the Adult Reference Circle for assistance and to borrow the keyboard for use.
English as a Second Language. IN PERSON Thursdays & Fridays from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Aspire Greater Cleveland is once again teaching IN-PERSON classes to help non-native speakers learn English and validate their skills. Students must attend an ESOL/Citizenship orientation session before beginning ESOL or citizenship classes. If you are interested in attending these ESOL classes, please call Aspire at 833.277.4732 to register.

Strongsville Branch Library has resumed some storytimes in-person. Join us for rhymes, songs, fingerplays and stories. Group is small and registration is required. Please register each child separately. Only the participating child and one caregiver will be admitted to the program (no siblings, please), due to social distancing space requirements. In-person programs may be held over Zoom if required by CDC and CCPL guidelines. Participants may be recorded and/or surveyed to capture this program’s effectiveness. Discover: Sink or Float. Grades 1 – 6. Thursday, August 4th / 3:00 – 3:45 p.m.
Let’s get wet and discover the wonderful properties of H20. Experiment and play the STEAM way! Through open-ended, developmentally appropriate, and STEAM direction, we are going to get wet discovering the properties of water. Some activities will take place outside in our gazebo, weather permitting.
Genealogy Series. Thursdays, August 4th and August 11th / 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
A two-part genealogy series held at the Strongsville Branch Library.
Have you ever wanted to start looking into your family or local history but haven't known where to start? In the first week, we will do a "Genealogy 101" where we go over what the library has to offer genealogy beginner researchers like you! We will go over other beneficial websites for genealogy research as well. Participants will leave this first class with "homework" to start delving into their family histories using what we went over in class! As a result, in our second class, we will create a "Memory Box" using print-offs, ephemera, and embellishments to create a one-of-a-kind shadow box that means something to you! Only 30 spots are available for this class. If you sign-up and cannot make it, please cancel your registration, or call the branch for assistance so someone else can join. Participants must attend the first class in order to participate in the second.
Discover: Makedo Ball. Grades 1 – 6. Wednesday, August 10th / 3:00 – 3:45 p.m.
What is Makedo? Makedo is a cardboard construction system which can be used to build just about anything one can imagine. As a team, plan and build a ball that can roll throughout the room. Seems simple enough, or is it? Test your engineering skills and see how big one can go.

Have you ever thought about recording your own music, making a video, digitizing memories and more? The Strongsville Branch Library is home to both Audio and Video Recording studios that can help you do just that! You must go through an orientation to use the spaces. Patrons 11 & up can participate in the orientation and must turn in the User Agreement form at the branch for the orientation to count. Register online to attend the virtual or in-person sessions.
Wednesday Evening Book Discussion. Wednesday, August 17th / 7:00 p.m. IN PERSON.
Our Wednesday Evening Book Discussion meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Strongsville Branch Library. We welcome all adults interested in reading and discussing great books! Our next discussion title will be Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead. Copies of the book will be available for check-out at the circulation desk of the Strongsville Branch Library.
Computer Classes
Cuyahoga County Public Library offers computer classes for beginners to advanced. Classes are currently being held in-person as well as some VIRTUALLY which requires a web browser and an internet connection. There is no additional software to download. Google Chrome is the recommended browser. A valid email address is required for registration. Registrants will receive an email with a link to join the class at least an hour before the start time. The Strongsville Historical Society in partnership with Strongsville Branch Library, shares this look into researching the history of your home with a speaker from Cleveland Restoration Society. Are you interested in learning about how to research the history of your home and neighborhood? Jamie Miles, Preservation Programs Associate with the Cleveland Restoration Society, will discuss how to use the variety of resources available to you to trace your property's chain of ownership, learn about its builder or architect, find out how your neighborhood developed over time, or educate yourself on your home's historic style and architecture. Attend this presentation to dig in and get started on your research journey.
