Message From The Principal
This week I had the pleasure of observing a fantastic learning collaboration that reminded me just how special our school truly is.
Our Teacher Cadet program is comprised of 12th-grade students who receive both high school and college credit--articulated by Winthrop University--for their studies of adolescent development. This innovative course teaches students about the stages of cognitive development, how children learn, and a host of other education-related topics. This week our Teacher Cadets put on a series of puppet shows for the 4-year-old pre-Kindergarten lab school housed on our campus.
This was an amazing opportunity for both groups. Our Teacher Cadets identified the children's story they wanted to act out, built the puppets and sets, and thought through the educational aspects of the instruction. The 4-year-olds got to watch the retelling of stories that they had practiced early literacy skills with, and the 12th graders got to interact with students in a real-world application of what they are learning about. It was a collaboration that was valuable for the youngest and oldest Yellow Jackets on our campus.
More impressive still is the fact that incredible opportunities like this are open to our students in a multitude of disciplines. On a daily basis, we have students learning in the field at doctors offices, auto repair shops, veterinary offices, daycares, manufacturing facilities, and more. The multidisciplinary collaboration and real-world practice our students are exposed to opens doors for college, the workforce, and beyond.

FMHS Powder Puff Football 2019
Next Tuesday, October 1st our school will hold our annual Powder Puff Football game at 6:45 pm at Bob Jones Stadium. Admission is $5 and the proceeds go to our school's chapter of the Business Professionals of America (BPA). Our BPA students raise funds to help defray the cost of travel to state and national competitions. Just last year they traveled to Anaheim, California to compete in the BPA National Competition where they had many best in the nation finishes.
Please consider coming out to support our athletes and the BPA at Powder Puff Football.
