Red Ribbon Week October 24-28
Cypress Leaders Reach for the Stars….We are planning for a drug-free future!
Cypress students pledge to have a bright future and make the right choices. Let’s say no to drugs and show our school spirit for National Red Ribbon Week! This year we will be collecting canned food donations for the Reed Elementary Backpack Food Program. Items needed: individual servings of cereal, oatmeal, fruit cups, granola bars, crackers, pudding cups, trail mix, snack items, popcorn, and juice boxes. Also needed: family sized servings of canned chicken and tuna, canned beans, soup, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, bags of rice, pasta, and canned vegetables. Please bring in all donations by Friday, October 28 at noon.
Monday - Team up against bad choices. Wear a Cypress shirt or favorite sports team jersey.
Tuesday - Let’s sock it to drugs! Wear silly socks.
Wednesday - Our futures are too bright for bad choices. Dress for your future career.
Thursday - “Lei” off of drugs. Wear Hawaiian themed clothes.
Friday - Making bad choices is crazy! Crazy hair day.
Show your school spirit and bring in those canned goods. The grade level that donates the most items will get a fun reward on Friday!
Leadership Notebooks
Sometime this week, your child will be bringing home his/her Leadership Notebook to share with you. Along with the notebook, there should be a guide to help your child as he/she reviews the different parts of the binder with you. Below are some questions or conversation starters to help you develop a deeper understanding of all of your child’s leadership accomplishments.
• In what areas are you feeling successful? What areas do you feel like you need to work on?
• What current goal/s are you working on? How are you tracking these goals?
• Tell me more about the leadership opportunities in your classroom and at school.
• What is your favorite habit of the 7 Habits and why?
• How do you see the habits helping you in your future?
• What is your end in mind? What plans do you have for your future?
• What leadership accomplishment are you most proud of so far this year?
There should also be a place for you to provide feedback about your child’s Leadership Notebook and about the conference led by your child. We are always seeking ways to improve, so please take a moment to let us know about your experience. Thank you and we hope you enjoy conferencing with your young leader!!
