I am excited to announce that the theme for this year's conference is: Discovering Your N.E.M.O - New Experiences, Meaningful Opportunities. The District Rotaract Conference Committee, lead by Past District Rotaract Representative, Weiting Xu, is excited to bring you an exciting and engaging conference that will be filled with clever puns! Check out our poster below and participate in our "Share Your N.E.M.O" contest (due Feb 29th) for a chance to win a free ticket to the conference on June 11th. Registration will open on February 1st.
Please do take a look through our newsletter and see how Rotary and Rotaract can help you achieve your goals this year and learn about what Rotaractors in our District have been up to!

Rotaract District 7070 Holiday Party!
The evening started with a massive rock, paper, scissor tournament, where everyone in attendance competed. The victor of each match absorbs their foe to be part of their entourage of cheerleaders. The tournament ended with a suspenseful match when Rotaract Club of York University’s Weiting Xu bested Rotaract Club of Toronto’s Joseph Hanna. As the night continued, drinks were consumed, snacks were nibbled, board game dice rolled, and new friendships were made.
In addition to the festivities, guests lived the spirit of “be the gift to the world” by bringing a small gift. Instead of a Secret Santa of Yankee Swap type event, we asked guests to bring a gift that they would give to their childhood self. In turn, these gifts would be donated to the CHUM Christmas Wish Toy Drive. In addition to the car-trunk-worth of toys, clothes, arts & crafts supplies, and books, a $100 donation was also made.
The Rotaract District 7070 committee wants to thank the District for making the event success and hope to see everyone there for the next social event…stay tuned!

Psssst! Our District is Launching a New E-Club!
Last October, at The Rotary District 7070 Conference, we announced the new D7070 Rotaract Community EClub. This is exciting news as it demonstrates our district’s commitment to supporting Youth Service, one of the Five Avenues of Service.
We have been working to recruit new members to help launch the new EClub and we need your help! We are asking all Rotarians in our district to reach out to Rotaractors from Clubs you have sponsored, who may no longer be involved. This is a great opportunity for them to jump back in the Rotaract world regardless of their geographical location in District 7070. Or, other youth who feel would make great Rotaractors – and future Rotarians. The club is open to all young people ages 18-30, which include RYLA participants, past youth exchange students, and even graduating Interactors. Please note that the youth you reach out to do not need to be involved in a Rotary-sponsored program.
Please tap into your rolodex/email list and see who you can inspire to learn, lead, and serve. Let’s do our best to engage the youth today and help grow the Rotary family.
To receive more information regarding the EClub, simply provide the following URL to interested persons:
https://rotaract.typeform.com/to/SKFDrP
Feel free to use this Elevator Pitch to help us recruit...
“A Rotaract EClub is an internet-based service club that meets virtually on a bi-weekly basis and conducts its projects and events through the web – as well as connecting with existing Rotaract Clubs. The club will offer Rotaractors a chance to get involved and make a difference without the commute, and provide the opportunity to mingle with Rotaractors across the district. It also provides a space for on-going learning, opportunities to lead and learn new skills, and a great network to connect and have fun with”.

They are responsible for regularly checking that progress and verifying the accuracy of RI’s data. Any discrepancies should be brought to RI’s attention immediately.

RotaryVoice #20 – Andrea Tirone - Rotary Club of Toronto
Our past DRR, Andrea Tirone, is a former Rotaractor of the Rotaract Club of the University of Toronto and the Rotaract Club of Toronto. She was recently featured in @RotaryVoices, a rotational twitter account from Rotarians around the world. See below!
Hi Everyone! I am your Rotary Voice for this week representing District 7070 in Ontario, Canada!
I recently joined the Rotary Club of Toronto in July of this year after 11 years as a Rotaractor! With over 250 members, The Rotary Club of Toronto is one of the largest clubs in Canada and one of the largest Rotary Clubs in the British Commonwealth. It was organized in 1912 (Club No.55) and has acted as Host club for Rotary International Conventions in 1924, 1942, 1964, 1983 and will again in 2018!
As a Rotaractor in both the University of Toronto and downtown Toronto Clubs, I have held many Club director positions, including having had the opportunity to serve as President and District Rotaract Representative twice, as well as serving two terms on the RI Committee for Rotaract and Interact. I have had the pleasure of attending 7 Rotary International Conventions and last year served as Co-Chair theInternational Rotaract Conference (Interota) in Toronto and Montreal.
In 2010, I completed a Master of Arts in Political Science as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in South Africa, and returned to Canada to work as a Career Educator at the University of Toronto and most recently as a Job Evaluation Specialist for a large union in the education sector. I subsequently realized that my vocational calling lay elsewhere, so I returned to school last September to train as a Psychotherapist at the Transformational Arts College in Toronto.
I look forward to spreading the Rotary Voice through this blog and our Twitter account over the next week!
