Alta Cucina Italia on the market this week
Adriana uses organic herbs and fruits for the balsamic & olive oils. Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar that comes from Italy, it's not certified organic but free of GMOs. In Italy all 20 regions are against the cultivation of GMOs.
Also, the rosemary infused olive oil and the orange balsamic vinegar are back! The pairing of Rosemary & Orange is AMAZING when used to marinated or dress roasted pork, turkey and chicken.

New! Chestnut Mushrooms
I've never heard of Chestnut mushrooms before but I ordered some this past week and they are delicious! Below is some info thant Appalachia Mushrooms wanted to share with everyone:
Chestnut mushrooms have a nice, rich (not too rich) flavor, similar to shiitake. They go well with pork roast or loin and beef and make a great addition to the gravy of these dishes.
Cooking Chestnut Mushrooms
Cut the caps off of the stem, slice or dice caps. Save stems. Sauté caps separately. Remove caps. You can sauté a few stems to see if you like the texture (some like them and some don’t). Another use for the stems is to partially sauté, then freeze for use later in stock or soups. Insert them in a mesh bag and add to soups or stock to benefit from their flavor and medicinal inputs. Enjoy!
Azuki's Kitchen Update
Azuki's Kitchen is taking a little break but will be back on the market the following week. Eventhough Miki is not taking order this weekend, that doesn't mean she's not baking. She will bring
samples of her new Spring special breads, "Veggie Rolls" and "Green Tea and Black Beans Rolls" to this upcoming pick up on Wednesday 2/27. These new breads will be available for purchase in March but she wants you all to try them out first.
Lastly, I noticed an ingredient I wasn't familiar with, called Trehalose, in one of Azuki's Kitchen gluten free items. I'm assuming some of you probably are not familiar with it also so I asked Miki to educate us. Please see the PDF she created below.
Help us plan for the future!
How To Store Fresh Vegetables & Fruit
Here's a great video a fellow co-op member sent me. This video shows some easy tips to help keep your fruits and veggies fresh!
PLEASE HELP! Volunteers Needed at pick up!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We need 1 volunteer this Wed, 2/27 at 5pm.
Please consider volunteering during market pick up. I can’t run the market without your help! Shifts are 1 hour long and go by really fast. It's a great opportunity to meet fellow members!
Thank you Gwen, Brandy, Karen, Veverly, and Chuck, for volunteering last Wednesday! We couldn't have the co-op without our amazing volunteers!!
If you are interested in volunteering but unsure exactly what that involves, please let Nora know and she will do a quick "volunteer orientation" with you on a day/time that you pick up.
