Enrico Fermi was born in Rome, Italy on September 29, 1901 and died November 28, 1954 in Chicago, IL. He was an Italian physicist. Fermi best work was on Chicago Pile 1 that was the first nuclear reactor. He won the Noble Prize because he induced radioactivity. Induced radioactivity is when a stable mineral becomes radioactive. He was an elementary school. During World War II, Enrico Fermi worked on the Manhattan Project to create the atomic bomb. When he was 17, he applied to the University of Pisa.
