Soul Café Helpful Hints
It is up to each individual if you want to set up/make coffee before service or during service (I personally feel better if I prep before service)!
Coffee (see instruction sheet in drawer under the coffee maker) typically 2 pots regular and 1 decaf.
If service looks like a “larger” crowd you can make 1 regular pot during soul café.
Treats- usually can be found on top of the soul café cart or on kitchen counter.
At times they may be located in the fridge or freezer,
but we try to let you know if that is the case.
Juice, Milk, & Coffee can be brought to the gathering area on a cart from the kitchen.
You can serve coffee from carafes located underneath island in the kitchen.
Napkins, stirrers, cups, etc should be in the soul café cart. Please make sure the sugar, sweet n low, stirrers, powdered creamer, and napkins are on top of soul café cart to be easily accessible. If something is low you can look in the back kitchen pantry. If you notice something is empty or running low please let Mary or Camilla know.

Valentine's Day Remembrance Boxes
Congregational Care will be sending Valentine's Day Remembrance Boxes for our college students and military personnel. The Valentine's table will be in the Gathering Area January 28th-February 11th.
Please bring pre-packaged goodies: crackers, candy, peanuts, gum, mints, microwave popcorn, granola bars....the list goes on!
Labels will be provided for names/addresses of those you wish to receive boxes.
There will also be a box available for monetary donations to go towards postage to mail the packages.

The Illinois River District 2018 Leadership Event is on January 28th from 2-5:30pm at Crossroads UMC. Chris Coleman, Director Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House is this year’s keynote speaker. There will be 8 ‘break-out sessions’ throughout the day offered to pastors, church leaders and lay teams.

Scout Sunday: Sunday February 4th
Attention all Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: we will be honoring all Scouts past and present on Sunday, February 4th!
Please join us in celebrating all Scouts during worship –Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts—from Daisies to Brownies to Ambassadors and from Cubs to Eagle Scouts on up!
All are welcome to come dressed in uniform as we recognize your accomplishments.
COOKIES BY THE POUND
Cookies by the Pound: Sunday, February 11th
Come visit the ladies of Mary Martha in the Gathering Area on February 11th and purchase your homemade cookies while they last!!! Cookies are $5.00 per pound!
All monies raised will be used to support mission projects of Mary/Martha.
ASH WEDNESDAY LOVE FEAST
Ash Wednesday Love Feast: Wednesday, February 14th
All are invited to come together on Wednesday, February 14th at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall to begin this Holy Season of Lent. The service will include special music, worship, and the imposition of ashes.
The Light Kids Conference

The Light Kids Conference is a one day event designed for children in grades 1-5. The purpose of the Light Kids Conference is to get kids excited about the faith and the walk with Jesus.
