Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
It is hard to believe that this is the last newsletter of 2023! We will miss our students over the break, but we hope your families enjoy this festive season together. We look forward to continuing to partner with you in the new year to maximize the academic, social and emotional growth of your children.
There will be many memorable learning and community building experiences happening during the remaining days until the break. Grade levels have planned special projects and activities. Fourth grade students will be hosting a Landform Exhibition for their families at 2:30 on Tuesday. Fifth grade students will have an opportunity to do a special activity in every fifth grade classroom. We are also looking forward to a PTO sponsored assembly with a magician. You can find more information about the show we will see at this link.
We want you and your children to relax and have fun together over the break. It is also possible to incorporate some learning into this time. Some suggestions are listed below, but please don't feel obligated to do any of them.
- Give your child an educational present. There are many things out there that encourage exploration of science, technology, engineering, art and math
- Encourage visiting relatives to bring books to read with your children
- Attend a concert or play to expose your child to the arts
- Do free online yoga videos to promote movement inside
- Visit a museum or historical site
- Encourage students to write a letter to their teacher
- Cook or bake together
- Engage in conversation and ask open ended questions
We look forward to welcoming your children back to school on Tuesday, January 9th.
Happy Holidays!
Katie Kelly

FAMILY CODING NIGHT
Lions Park School celebrated Computer Science Education Week in early December by participating in the Hour of Code in the LRC. The Hour of Code began as a one-hour coding challenge to give students a fun introduction to computer science and has become a global learning, celebration, and awareness event.
On January 25th, Lions Park School would like to invite all families to participate in Family Coding Night, an event designed for the whole school and their families to participate in computer programming - together! Family Coding Night is an extension of the lessons and activities students have been working on, but no prior experience is necessary.
The event is open from 6:30 - 8:00. Families may complete activities at their own pace and should for about an hour.
Students should plan on bringing their school Chromebook. We hope to see you there and that everyone can be successful with coding.
