To our VG Community,
You may be aware of the recent news that reflect an alarming and disturbing escalation in violence, discrimination and racism towards the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. These unprovoked, and vicious attacks affects us all, and especially our Asian American and Pacific Islander families. It is contrary to everything we stand for at Vista Grande and in the SRVUSD.
To our Asian American and Pacific Islander Falcons and Community: We stand with you!
As a NO PLACE FOR HATE school we are dedicated to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as our students' safety and well-being. I have shared these resources with our staff and wanted to share them with you as well.
Your children may want to talk about it or be provided a safe space to ask questions about what is occurring in the Asian community. Here are some resources that can help you engage in those moments with your students/children:
- List of children's books featuring Asian & Asian American characters
- How to Respond to Coronavirus Racism article from Learning for Justice written in March of 2020, however it is still very relevant today.
