March Edition-Women's History Month
A word from the principals!
Greetings NAMily!
"Women need to see other women do well. It empowers them. We in athletics can help be a face of change and be a force. That's the responsibility of all of us."
— Billie Jean King, former professional tennis player.
March is the time we like to say is when we are rounding third and headed for home. So many great things happen at this time of the year. For many students, this is when the light bulbs turn on and connections to prior knowledge happen. We are exactly 23 Instructional days before students in grades 3-6 take the Reading Ohio State Assessment. It is critical that students are in school and on time daily. There are several events happening this month that will help boost student's confidence and love for learning. See lots of flyers within this newsletter.
Can't wait to see you soon!

Read A Thon
We are excited to share that we are launching our Read-a-Thon with 99Pledges. You will be able to reach out to friends and family by email or social media to gather donations for our school.
Soon, you will receive an email with a link to your child’s online pledge page. All you have to do is make a donation for whatever amount you can, and share your student's link with friends and family, and start logging your minutes read! We are shooting for 100% participation so no amount is too small. People can make a one-time donation, or a per-minutes-read donation.
If you do not receive the email for whatever reason, simply search and find your child’s pledge page here: www.99pledges.com/fund/north avondale
Are you having trouble? Email the Foundation at namschoolfoundation@gmail.com and we will do our best to help you!

Cooperation-Virtue of the Month
What is Cooperation?
Cooperation is working together for the good of everyone. It is a willingness to respect others and to follow rules which keep everyone safe and happy. Cooperation is being helpful to one another, sharing the load. It is joining others in order to do something that cannot be done alone.
Why Practice it?
Without cooperation, people disturb others. They don’t care about the rules, and they don’t seem to care about others. When we work together, we can often accomplish more than each of us could do alone. When we cooperate, we can do great things.
How Do You Practice it?
Being cooperative is being willing to go along in order to get along. We are respectful of the rules. We consider other people’s needs. We look for ways to be helpful, and we ask for help when we need it. Cooperation helps us bring together the ideas of many so that a new idea can come to light. Working together, we can make any place a safe and happy one.
What Would Cooperation Look Like if…
You have a project to do for school and don’t have all the information you need?
You notice that there is some bullying going on in the playground?
You need to move something heavy?
You are asked to participate in a group discussion?
A new teacher seems nervous and doesn’t know the rules yet?
You don’t agree with something your teacher has asked the class to do?
Signs of Success
Congratulations! You are practicing Cooperation when you…
Work well with others
Freely offer your help and ideas
Follow the rules
Do your part to keep a safe, happy environment
When you disagree, do it peacefully
Ask for help when you need it
Affirmation
I am cooperative. I work and play well with others. I respect the rules. I keep myself and others safe.
