What's Happening at Park
March WHAP
Principal Message
Greetings! It seems like this academic year is moving swiftly! We are starting off a particularly busy month at Park. Looking ahead to the upcoming months, our main focus will be on the continuous progress of each student. We deeply value your support in aiding your child's academic growth by engaging in reading activities with them and helping them apply mathematical concepts in real-life scenarios.
Mark your calendars for Leadership Day on March 14. More information will be coming. We will also be having our "Reading with Loved Ones" event on March 26th at 8:15. Join us to read with your child and indulge in a delicious donut. A friendly reminder that student drop-off is on the east side of the school, not at the front, as we prioritize the safety of all our students. Additionally, in honor of College Month, remember to wear college-themed attire every Friday.
Wishing you a fantastic month ahead!
Mrs. Lindley

Term 4 Reward Party
Attendance Focus for Term 4
In Term 4, our school is placing a strong emphasis on Attendance. Our aim is to achieve a 98% attendance rate for this term. We will be recognizing students with excellent attendance records and those with the fewest tardies through class prizes. Addressing the issue of tardiness, which has been on the rise in our school, is a key priority as we strive to motivate students to arrive on time. The significance of attending school consistently is vividly illustrated in the chart below, emphasizing the impact of missed days or late arrivals. Acknowledgment will be given to students with perfect attendance on our "Paws" wall, and they will receive an individual reward at the term's conclusion. Additionally, students with a 98% attendance rate will have the opportunity to participate in a swimming trip at the Springville Recreation Center. This event will take place in May. Our central theme for this initiative is "Be Here Everyday & Don't Be Late." Let's collaborate to ensure that each school day is valued and maximized!

Counselor Corner
Welcome to March Madness!! Here at Park Elementary, March Madness is less about the NCAA Championship or the 5th grade Book Bracket and more about focusing on College and Career Readiness (CCR). Research shows that kids who decide in elementary school that they want to seek higher education are far more likely to complete a degree through higher education. Whether it's a 1 year certification program through a technical college like MTech, a 2 yr associates degree or certification program or a bachelor's degree and beyond; students who start planning now are far more likely to achieve that goal. Research also shows that those who complete some level of higher education get better jobs with higher pay. Throughout the month of March, we will focus on starting now to make College and Career goals. We will consider different career paths and related skills that students will need to develop in order to be successful on a chosen career path. We will focus on skills students already have that will help them to be College and Career ready! During Monday Lift-Offs, we will highlight some of our teachers and what their College and Career path looked like. On Fridays during March, for School Spirit Day, we are encouraging staff and students to sport their favorite college attire (no hats please!). Additionally, each morning over announcements we will share a College Fun Fact. At the end of the month, students will have an opportunity to play their teachers in a College Fun Fact Trivia game during Mrs. J's grade level lessons in the Panther Den. Students have taken the win for the past TWO YEARS! Can Park teachers make a comeback or will the students continue to reign supreme?!?
Here are some additional resources to help you and your student start making plans for College and Career Readiness. It's never too early to start planning!!
