Mae Jemison
Mae Jemison was born on Oct. 17, 1956 in Decatur, AL. Mae grew up in Chicago, IL. She has one sister, Ada Jemison Bullock & one brother, Charles Jemison. Her parents were Charlie Jemison and Dorthy Green. Her dad was a roofer and carpenter, her mom was a teacher. Mae always wanted be a scientist.
Accomplishments
Mae was the first black woman to go to space. Mae also received her Doctorate. She earned a Kibly Science Award and many more awards. Some of the names of the awards are Ebony Award, Woman of the Year, and NASA Space Flight Medal.
