"Our WHY" Focus of the Week: Give grace and support to everyone
So, here I sit on a Friday night, the eve of our baby boy's 2nd birthday. I suppose this is what Friday evenings look like now. Wilkes is in MY bed running a fever on his birthday, Edy and Fred are in the back of the house playing hide and seek, I haven't seen Everett since Sunday, and I have just come out of the hardest week I can remember in a long time. And yet, I can say with certainty that I wouldn't change a thing! I am so grateful for this precious boy that lays sleeping beside me tonight! The sounds of laughter coming from Edy and Fred are the sounds I dreamed about when we began planning our family. I am so grateful that Everett has a job that keeps him busy that he LOVES...who wouldn't love driving a train? To top it all, I work with the most amazing staff!
This week was difficult for so many reasons, and yet as I reflect I am so grateful! I am learning that I can't control the actions of others but I can control how I respond. I was reminded of this throughout the week. As I delivered news to a grade level that just lost a member, I will never forget the response of one of your colleagues who said, "We are a team! We've got this! We will work together to make sure all students are taken care of!" There are so many people who stepped in and stepped up this week that I am afraid to try and name them all. If I missed someone it would be because of my head, not my heart!
This week our focus is on giving each other grace! I've been thinking a lot about what it means to give grace. I think it is best described as giving someone a piece of your heart when you would really like to give them a piece of your mind. May we always remember that grace is easy to give when we recall how much we need it! This week, practice giving grace to each other and to our students. I can promise, we all need it!

RtI Clarification
If you are taking a student through RtI for behavior, please make a copy of the intervention plan and data collection sheet and place it in Catherine Hood's box. This is the "golden ticket" to have your student placed on Mrs. White's caseload.
Tier 2 and Tier 3 Intervention Plans can now be found at the end of the newsletter.
SIC Voting
A HUGE thank you to all teachers that were able to come to the SIC meeting this week. If you were there you got to see me "think of my feet" :)
At this meeting, we discussed the upcoming elections for SIC. Thank you to Christine Rasmusson for agreeing to represent 3-5 teachers. We now need 2 parents to serve on SIC. Traditional teachers, in the next few days you will receive a call for nominations. While this will go out to our families, please nominate a parent in your classroom that, if elected, would be willing to serve on School Improvement Council.
School Improvement Council is the principal's advisory committee made of teachers, parents, staff and community members. Administrators rely on this committee to help guide big decisions being made at the school level. For example, no birthday celebrations came about as a result of the SIC.

Three areas of help:
• classroom supplies
• hands-on classroom assistance

To request a helping hand during their week of focus, teachers will simply fill out the Google Form @
Although we may not be able to reach all needs each week, we will work to spread the love and bring on more volunteers if the need arises.
The teachers may also use the Google Form to request a tee shirt. They can just select supplies in the form, and use the description area to let us know their size.
