ORCHARD HILL HAWK TALK
Be Safe - Be Respectful - Be Responsible - Be a Hawk!
SEPTEMBER 2022
Dear OHES Families,
During my undergraduate work at Utah State University I worked as a baker’s assistant for the entire time of my program. My experience in the bakery has been one that I have been able to reflect upon with fondness. Although the hours were early and my days long with school I looked forward each day to the time I would spend with my colleagues in the bakery. As I have developed in my career as an educator and moved into a leadership role I have been reminded of my time at the bakery. The key factor that contributed to this experience was my boss. He was a baker with over 30 years’ experience and one that could be trusted by all his staff. Through his leadership our particular bakery, which was located in a grocery chain, produced the highest quality and profit within our region.
The success of any school or district will not happen overnight. Establishing a purpose and vision is imperative to this achievement. At Orchard Hill our vision is focused on one simple phrase, “Soaring to Success”. Our plan to help every student succeed begins and ends with family connection and support. As a school we will work to create a positive and safe learning environment for each student, as well as making positive connections with our families.
We have an exciting opportunity on Tuesday, September 27th, to continue building relationships as a school and community with our Fall Family Night. The purpose of this event is to connect and teach specific ways on how families can support their students at home academically. I truly am excited about our family engagement activities and believe this will help our students reach their full potential! We hope you will attend.
Sincerely,
Brandon Hammond

STEP 1: Complete the UO K-12 Student Information Survey at https://tinyurl.com/k12covidscreening. The registration survey can be viewed in English or Spanish. Students can sign up anytime of the year. Testing begins about 1-2 weeks after student sign-up begins.
STEP 2: Complete and return the OHA Consent Form. This form is required for all participating students and must be completed and returned to the school at the start of the program. If you do not have a printer, your school can provide a printed copy at test pick up. Schools are required by OHA to retain these consent forms.
