Brown School Buzz
December 5, 2023
Dear Families,
The commitment to our ever growing Brown School is astounding. It seems each time I am faced with creating a new Brown School Buzz, there are scores of folks to thank for their continued efforts, and this edition is no exception.
Many thanks to the Brown School PTO for coordinating our first Brown School Book Fair! This takes an enormous amount of time, organization, and volunteers. For most of our students, this was their first experience at a book fair. It was fun to watch them negotiate their needs/wants and budget. It's such a great sense of independence for our kids to experience. And of course, it'a always great to see them excited about reading! Special shout out to parent Karen Galvez for her efforts to organize the event and bring it to fruition!
Another thank you to our PTO for our Author Night! We had a wonderful time with local author, Garrett Callahan as he described his writing process and engaged our students in their own writing! Special shout out to Meaghan DeSoto for coordinating this event.
And a HUGE THANK YOU to THE MAGIC HAT! Read on to find out the exciting news!
MAGIC HAT DOES IT AGAIN!!!
As a reminder, the mission of the Magic Hat Thrift Shop is to generate funds for the Parent-Teacher Organizations of the Marblehead Public Schools for student educational enrichment programs. Because of their efforts, our students' learning is constantly being enriched by professional authors, musicians, scientists, performers, and specialists of all sorts.
We recently were informed that the Brown School PTO received a check for $26,392.00 from the Magic Hat!!!!
Thank you Parent and Community Volunteers! Thank you Magic Hat!!
Let's keep the efforts going!

Kindergarteners Musical Debut!
Our Kindergarten concert was held the week before vacation and our students did not disappoint. They sang their little hearts out and provided us with a wonderful concert! Special thanks to Ms. D'Amour for all her efforts!
2024-25 Kindergarten Registration and Screening Information
We had a good turnout for our first Kindergarten Orientation Night and now we are scheduling screenings. We currently have 71 students registered for kindergarten. Since we typically have approximately 100 kindergarteners arrive in the fall, this leads me to believe there are more folks who still need to register a child for the 2024-25 school year.
-If you have a child who will turn 5 on or before August 31, 2024, PLEASE CLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR KINDERGARTEN.
-If you know someone who may be new to the community and has a child who will be turning 5 soon, please share this information.
-Kindergarten Screenings will be held on WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY, MAY 8th AND 9th FROM 8:30-12:00.
-If you have not received an email to schedule a screening for your incoming kindergartener, please EMAIL ME, and we will make sure you have all the information you need.
May 6-10-Educator Appreciation Week
The Brown School Staff is second to none! Be on the lookout for emails from the Brown School PTO who will be looking for volunteers to help us celebrate Educators in May. If you can't volunteer or donate, please take the time to thank the wonderful people who work with your children all day every day. I promise you it will raise a smile.
