Plympton Family Update
April 6, 2024
From the Admin Team
Dear Plympton Families,
We had two special guests visit Plympton this week! Author/illustrator Maddie Frost visited with students and discussed the writing and drawing process. And former NFL player, (who went to Plympton Elementary), Mackenzy Bernadeau, spoke to students about making good choices, forming good habits, and being a good friend.
We also started MCAS testing this week. Students worked diligently on Session I of the ELA MCAS and will tackle ELA Session 2 next week.
Next week we are looking forward to the solar eclipse! More information about the solar eclipse and our viewing plan is included in the graphics below. We have been educating students on the danger of looking directly at the sun and the proper way to use eclipse glasses - which will be provided to every student thanks to a grant from the Waltham Education and Beyond Fund! If you would not like your student to participate in the viewing, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Also next week is the Plympton Drama Club's production of Annie, Jr. The students are so excited to share this production with you!
Our Lost and Found continues to grow! All items will be donated on over April vacation. If you are missing clothing items or water bottles, please come check out our rather large collection between the hours of 9:00am and 2:00pm.

Sincerely,

*Updated Covid Guidelines - students do NOT need to stay home for 5 days if testing positive for Covid-19. Students may return to school when they are fever free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medicines) and there is an improvement in symptoms. Students must be able to fully participate in the day’s activities. We ask students wear a mask for the 5 days following the positive test.
We encourage everyone to practice good respiratory hygiene. Cover your coughs. Wash your hands. Clean frequently touched surfaces.
Always call or email me with questions or concerns.
Stay safe,
Ms. Duquette, RN 781-314-5763

When your student's after school dismissal arrangements change, please send a note to your child's homeroom teacher. If you prefer to email, please also include our fabulous secretary, Mrs. Conneely, at meghanconneely@walthampublicschools.org. Mrs. Conneely and Officer Dani double check every bus list every day and cross check with the attendance for the Champion after school program to be certain kids are getting to correct location after school. Please make every effort to communicate any changes as early as possible. Calls after 2:30 slow down our dismissal process.
All student must ride the bus they are assigned. Students may not switch buses.
